The fog swirled as Marcus followed the path to the cliff mentioned in the recording. The darkness seemed to want to swallow him, and the silence was broken only by the crunch of branches beneath his feet. The trees rose like watchful shadows on either side, their shapes blurred by the ever-thickening fog. With each step, the feeling of being watched grew, as if the fog itself had eyes, spying on him from every corner of the forest.

Suddenly, Marcus heard crunching steps over the branches at a certain distance. He turned the flashlight toward the source of the noise and distinguished a hooded figure. It was one of the white coats. It stood on a slope, not too close, but close enough for Marcus to notice its presence. The figure raised a hand, making a gesture as if wanting Marcus to stop.

"Detective Marcus, you shouldn't be here," the man said in a deep, raspy voice, filled with something more than just a warning. There was a disturbing note of satisfaction in his tone. "We know why you're here. You have no idea what you're playing with, and what may happen to you will be no one's responsibility but your own."

Marcus felt a chill as he heard his name. How could he know who he was? He lowered the flashlight slightly so as not to provoke a hostile reaction, but he didn't take his eyes off the figure.

"How do you know my name? And how do you know I'm a detective?" Marcus asked, keeping calm but with his heart pounding. He knew he had to be brave, but he also understood he was dealing with something dangerous.

The figure let out a low laugh, barely audible, which got lost in the fog.

"You told us, Marcus," the man replied with a sinister smile that could be felt through his tone and mask. "The Great Spiral shows us everything."

Marcus frowned, trying to understand. Every word from that man seemed more cryptic than the last.

"What is the Great Spiral?" Marcus insisted, stepping forward.

The figure watched him, and although his face was covered, Marcus could feel the intensity of his gaze.

"The Great Spiral is much more than you can imagine, detective. It is not just a symbol or an idea; it is a power that transcends the comprehensible. You came here for a missing person's case, but what you've found is much bigger and much more dangerous. We know why you're here, because you yourself showed us. Your curiosity brought you to us, and I warn you, Marcus, that curiosity comes at a very high price."

Marcus swallowed, trying to keep his composure. The feeling of unease increased, and he was beginning to understand that this went far beyond a simple case. He was involved in something that defied logic and reality itself.

"What happened to Evan and Anna?" he asked, his voice firm but without arrogance. He tried to stay cautious, respecting the threat before him but still seeking the truth.

The hooded man tilted his head slightly, as if evaluating the question.

"They also wanted to know the secrets of the spiral, Marcus. And now... well, there are things worse than death, things you wouldn't understand. They crossed a line that shouldn't have been crossed, and now they're in a place from which there is no escape."

Marcus took a step forward, his voice filled with urgency.

"What exactly is the Great Spiral? Who are you?"

The figure let out a sigh, as if Marcus's question were pointless.

"We are only the guardians. The Great Spiral decides who enters and who leaves, who lives and who gets trapped in its webs. All you need to know is that this is not your path. If you decide to continue, the price will be your life, your sanity, and perhaps something worse."

"Who tells me this?" Marcus insisted, his voice hard.

"You know, Marcus. The Great Spiral told you. We are simply its eyes and ears."

Suddenly, a white glow enveloped the figure, blinding Marcus for a moment. When his vision returned, the man was gone, as if he had never been there.

Marcus slowly lowered the flashlight, looking at the spot where the man had been. As his mind tried to process what had happened, he couldn't help but wonder:

So, were Anna and Evan still alive? What did "a place from which there is no escape" really mean? Where were they now? Was it a physical place or something beyond the reality he knew? How was it possible that that man knew so much about him? And how had he disappeared like that? What exactly was the Great Spiral? Was it a symbol, a power, or something supernatural that controlled people's destinies? And most unsettling of all, why did everything seem to be connected to him?

Every answer seemed to bring new questions, and Marcus was beginning to understand that the path to the truth would be much more twisted and dangerous than he had ever imagined. He knew this encounter was only the beginning, and that the dangers he faced were real and lethal. He took a deep breath, feeling the cold air fill his lungs, and understood that what he had in his hands was not a simple murder or disappearance case, but something that defied all known logic. He was immersed in something much darker, that challenged him at every turn. He decided to move forward, now more alert than ever, but with the determination to get to the bottom of this mystery.
