Good ol' Adventures

It was late April, and track season was coming to an end. Alexandra and her trio of friends were looking forward to the end of the season and summer break. It was a late Friday afternoon, and the track meet had just ended. Amethyst and Rosalyn asked Alexandra for a ride home. She, of course, said yes, so they all headed for the fire truck in the parking lot.

As they approached, Alexandra noticed Optimus was sinking onto his tires. Once everyone was settled inside, Optimus started his engine with a sigh. Alexandra caught it, but her friends didn't notice. Alexandra moved to the passenger seat, while her friends sat in the back, chatting about a nearby national park. Alexandra frowned and put her hand gently on his dashboard,

"Hey, everything okay with ya? You seem kinda down..."

The only reply she got was a slight rev of the engine and a sharp turn out of the parking lot.

"I'll take that as a 'yes, something's wrong' answer."

Suddenly, Rosalyn jumped out of her seat and pointed out the window at a sign far up the road.

"Look! It's that park I was talking about! We have to do a paper on it. Do you think we can drop by real quick?"

"Well...I don't know,"

They did need to visit it for their school assignment, but Optimus didn't seem to be in a good mood. Amethyst glanced up at them from behind a lit-up phone screen.

"Don't get your hopes up too much. Based on the website I found, it says that the park closes early on Fridays. We couldn't have gone even if we wanted to,"

Alexandra shrugged

"In that case, then we definitely can't...Oh well."

"But, we could always sneak into the park. It would be easy with Optimus helping out."

The Prime wanted to slam on his brakes in protest, but he didn't. Instead, he grunted in disapproval.

"I do not think it wise..."

"Aw, come on! It could work!"

Optimus was about to tell her 'no' when Rosalyn spoke up again.

"Alexa, back me up. We need to get this done, and we might as well get it out of the way now. Persuade him. It will be really fun if you think about it."

Alexandra did want to go; visiting the park with her friends would be fun, and sneaking in would be a bonus.

"Can we, Optimus? I think we should...please?"

"I..."

Optimus began, but Leonardo popped out of nowhere.

"I say we take a vote. Everyone for sneaking into the park, raise your hand."

Everyone, including Leonardo, raised their hand.

"Well, that's settled; we're going to the park. Democracy wins!"

Leonardo jumped to the steering wheel and turned in the direction of the park.

Optimus mumbled a 'fine' and continued to the park as his passengers cheered. As he drove past the park sign, he failed to notice a strange device hidden behind it. When he passed, a little red light began flashing.

The numerous screens in the command center illuminated the sleep-deprived and driven faces of the Timber Wolf Task Force. Displayed on the screens were satellite images of areas with recent alien activity. Not tracking down the alien that had appeared several months ago had taken a toll on everyone. Captain Leland "Silas" Bishop, the "Boss," was especially frustrated, as it was the second alien he had lost. At the moment, he was in his office, sipping his fourth cup of coffee. He was intently studying the screens when one of them began flashing red, and a small alarm began to sound. The previously lifeless environment quickly transformed into a bustling, high-alert operation.

One of the workers told his colleague to go notify the Captain. The colleague quickly made his way to Silas's office, knocked, and entered.

"Boss, scanner T-137 just went off. What are your orders?"

Silas looked over his computer screen with cold eyes. In the dark room, the screen's light emphasized his scarred face.

"Scanner T-137...that's not far from here."

He stood up and proceeded out the door, his subordinate following quickly.

"Dispatch three helicopters; have them ready in five minutes. I need to suit up."

The officer took off to do as instructed, while Silas went to the hangar to prepare for the mission. He noticed that the rest of the team was there, suiting up as well. Something was off; one team member wasn't supposed to be there. The only woman suiting up was the last person he wanted to see on this mission.

"Now just what do you think you're doing? Take the suit off,"

Silas tried to sound calm, which was rare for him, especially around her, she scoffed,

"Nope. Sorry, you know I can't do that. This is my job, plus someone has to keep an eye on you,"

Judy Witwicky rolled her eyes, a hint of sarcasm in her tone as she tied her short hair into a small ponytail.

"Now, let's move out!"

She started leading the men toward the three fastest helicopters. The mission had begun, and they were about fifteen minutes from their destination.

Silas ensured he was in the same helicopter as Judy.

"This job is dangerous; I wouldn't want you getting hurt now,"

He explained to the hardheaded women beside him. She laughed,

"Must we have this talk on every mission? You and I both know I was reassigned here, and this is what I do. I have to come."

Silas rested his hand on her thigh,

"But you have a family that would dearly miss you if anything happened, Judy."

Judy slapped his hand away.

"Exactly, I have a family, so back off. You need to stop hitting on me, Silas. If my husband ever found out you had the hots for me and did things like that, he wouldn't hesitate to shoot you."

Silas smiled a twisted smile.

"He can try, for I welcome a challenge...not that he'll be much."

"We'll see about that. Just stay focused; we can't afford to lose the alien again. Sector 7 wasn't pleased with the latest results."

"Then let the hunt begin,"

"Hey Commander!"

Mazikeen glanced up and smirked,

"What's up Will?"

Will plopped down next to her and gave her a beer,

"We are celebrating!"

"What exactly?"

Will shrugged,

"Not sure, but I heard a team was dispatched, rumors about something big being found by a national park,"

Mazikeen smirked,

"Wanna check it out?"

Will raised his eye brow at her,

"Do you have a death wish? We could get into serious trouble,"

Mazikeen shrugged,

"Your point?"

Will sighed,

"Fine. I'll get Fig and Epps,"

Mazikeen laughed,

"That's the spirit!"

"But! If we get into trouble you are taking the complete fall,"

Mazikeen waved him off,

"Yeah yeah, will do,"
