The sun was setting over Quantico, casting a warm glow in the BAU break room. The atmosphere was casual, filled with laughter and the aroma of coffee. You sat across from Emily Prentiss, your heart racing as you fidgeted with a folded piece of paper in your hands.
“Hey, what’s that?” Emily asked, tilting her head slightly, her curiosity piqued.
You took a deep breath, your heart pounding. “It’s just something I wrote. I thought I’d share it with you.”
With a slight nod, she encouraged you. You unfolded the paper, your hands trembling just a bit, and began to read.

**I don’t love you, but…**
I don’t love you, but your laughter
Is the melody that brightens my days,
A gentle reminder of the beauty in chaos,
Turning the mundane into a playful maze.I don’t love you, but your smile
Holds a warmth that lingers in the air,
A comfort that wraps around my heart,
A silent promise that you’ll always care.I don’t love you, but in the quiet moments,
When shadows dance and silence speaks,
I find my thoughts wandering to you,
In the spaces where my heart seeks.I don’t love you, but you’re my favorite part
Of every long, winding case we chase.
Your strength, your grace, your fierce spirit,
Bring light to the darkest of places.I don’t love you, but if I’m honest,
You’re the dream I never knew I’d find.
A spark in the shadows, a soft whisper,
A reminder that love can be undefined.---
You looked up, catching Emily’s gaze. There was a mix of surprise and warmth in her eyes. The silence stretched, filled with unspoken feelings.
“That was… beautiful,” she said softly, her voice almost a whisper. “You really have a way with words.”
“Thanks,” you replied, trying to hide the blush creeping up your cheeks. “I just thought… well, you know how it is.”
She smiled, leaning closer. “You know, it’s okay to love someone without putting a label on it.”
Your heart raced, the tension between you palpable. “I just didn’t want to make things awkward.”
Emily’s expression softened. “You didn’t. In fact, it’s sweet. But you know,” she said, her tone teasing, “you don’t love me, but I love you.”
Before you could respond, she leaned forward and pressed a gentle kiss on your cheek. The warmth of her lips lingered, sending your heart into overdrive.
You blinked in surprise, a mix of emotions swirling within you. “Wait—”
“Just think about it,” she said with a playful grin, standing up. “And remember, I’m always here.”
As she walked away, you felt a mixture of joy and disbelief. The walls you had built began to crumble, and maybe, just maybe, there was a chance for something more between you two.
