Ino pushed open the door to her family's flower shop, the familiar jingle of the bell above signaling her arrival. The shop was a cozy haven filled with colorful blooms, their sweet fragrances wrapping around her like a comforting blanket. She made her way to the desk at the back, the wood worn smooth from years of use.
Once seated, Ino rested her elbows on the desk and stared out the window, where fluffy clouds floated lazily across the sky. As she watched them drift, her mind began to race.
"What if he likes that Sand girl he thought was cute and not me?" she whispered, the words escaping her lips before she could stop them. The thought sent a pang of insecurity through her. Shikamaru had mentioned finding a girl from the Sand Village attractive, and ever since, the image of him smiling at her kept replaying in Ino's mind.
The more she thought, the deeper her doubts grew. What if he never saw her that way? What if he only viewed her as a friend, or worse, a teammate? Ino leaned back in her chair, running her fingers through her hair in frustration.
Her mind spun with countless "what ifs." What if she made things awkward by acknowledging her feelings? What if her friendship with Shikamaru and Choji suffered because of it?
"I can't let this ruin everything," she said to herself, determination briefly breaking through her swirling thoughts.
Finally, she made a decision: maybe it was best to distance herself from both Shikamaru and Choji for a while. If she could just give herself some space, perhaps she could clear her mind and figure out what she truly felt.
Ino took a deep breath, steeling herself. She had to focus on her mission as a kunoichi and put her feelings aside, at least for now. The flowers around her seemed to bloom brighter as she resolved to tackle her emotions with the same determination she applied to her training.
With her heart heavy but her mind set, Ino returned to organizing the flowers, trying to push aside the thoughts of Shikamaru and the uncertainty swirling in her heart.
