(Y/N)'s P.O.V

I sit in the small row boat with the trap overhead, blocking the sunlight from scorching my skin. Maisie walks along the thin side of the boat with her arms outstretched, giggling lightly as she dramatically falls towards me. With a smile, I catch her in my arms and sway her around theatrically as she laughs.

Jacob works on hammering a small board against the side of the boat, blocking yet another gaping hole so that we might make it to shore. I set Maisie down and turn back to look at him, Jacob sighing softly as he wipes some sweat from his forehead.

"Sure there's nothing else for me to do?" I question with a raised brow, frowning as I rest my chin on the palm of my hand, elbow on the boat in front of him. "I feel bad you're doing everything."

Jacob sits with his legs outstretched as his eyes flick up at me, a soft smile on his face as he looks up at me while shaking his head.

"Nah, it's all right, darling."

He sets the hammer inside the boat beside my leg, Blue's squeaking gaining our attention. We look over as Maisie uses her blade and cuts open the shell of a fruit and tosses Blue half, Blue catching it in his mouth and happily munching on it as she giggles. Jacob smiles at this, a soft laugh leaving me as Blue croaks in content.

Jacob's smile falls in an instant.

"What's wrong?" I question, Jacob leaning forward and grabbing the sack in front of my feet.

He lifts it up and shakes it, revealing the sack was empty, meaning... we had no food.

We all exchange wide eyed looks, knowing we had to remedy this.

...

..

Maisie held the sack with Blue sitting next to her, me standing beside Jacob as he lays his spear across his shoulders, straining quietly as he stretches side to side with it. There was a rope attached to the end of his spear, the pile next to Jacob's boot.

He lowers himself into multiple squats, exhaling as he rises and rolls his shoulder, effectively cracking it.

"Want me to help? I could scare 'em over towards ya," I offer, tilting my head to the side.

"No, no! Let me. This won't take long," he confidently replies with a lopsided grin. "I reckon I'll have enough for us to have a feast within a few minutes."

I glance over to Maisie with a light eye roll while shaking my head, making her muffle a laugh behind her hand.

Jacob readies his spear, staring down at the fish swimming besides Red before throwing it with a light grunt. The spear misses any fish in the school, Jacob's smile falling as Maisie watches with interest, a small, amused smile on my face.

"Guess we've never really had to fish before, eh? Wasn't really... our job," I say after a beat of silence, making Jacob's eyes flick towards me.

He clears his throat, resting his hands on his hips before retrieving his spear. Kneeling down a bit closer towards the waters, he readies his spear, Maisie leaning back from him. Jacob grunts with effort as he throws the spear swiftly once more, the spear again missing the fish below as his expression falls.

...

I sit criss-cross on Red's fin next to Maisie, Blue settled in my lap as he lightly pants while we watch Jacob. He throws his spear into the water again, missing once more.
