Her Pov

I watched as Jake fell.

“What the hell Matt!” I yelled as he walked away pretending to not hear me. I rushed over to Jake and started to pick up his books and binders as he sat up.

“Here let me take you to the nurse.” I said girlfriend instincts kicking in.

“You don’t’ have to do that.” He tried to protest.

“Yes I do. Now hold your head back and try to not get blood on anything.”

I walked with him down the hallway looking out for Matt.

“I am going to mess him up.” I surpirsed myself.

“You defiantly don’t need to do that.” He looked at me with a serious look on his face.

Ugh, of course a girl can’t beat up a guy for another guy but it’s perfectly fine for a guy to beat up another guy for a girl. Boys, when will they stop worrying about their pride and dignity?

“I have to stop at my locker really quickly.” I said looking at him.

“That’s fine. It’s not like I’m bleeding to death over here.” He said back.

Was that meant to be sarcastic? I don’t know. It doesn’t matter anyway, I was taking him to the nurse he should be grateful.

“I don’t want you to be late for class.” I could feel him looking at me.

“It’s fine. You know that Mrs. Healey doesn’t mind as long as we have a legitimate excuse.” I returned his stare. I closed my locker and started to walk down the hallway not looking back to see if Jake was following.

“Well okay then.” He replied just as we came up to the nurse’s office.

“I’ll just leave your stuff here.” I said putting his books and binders one of the counter tops.

“Thanks.” He looked at the floor.

As I started to walk away I turned back,

“Hey,” I said. He turned at me and I saw his expression change.

“Be more careful next time.” I tried to smile but failed as I could tell that tears were threatening to spill over. I turned and quickly walked out of the door.

Ding ding! And there’s the bell, looks like I was going to be late after all. I ran up the stairs and walked into the class room.

“Sorry I’m late I was helping someone go to the nurse.” I felt my face grow red.

“Okay. Does anyone know where Jake is?” Mrs. Healey asked. Robert looked at me as my face grew hotter.

“Um, yeah. He’s at the nurse. He had a bloody nose.” I said quietly.

Everyone looked at me. Are you okay? Robert mouthed.  I slowly nodded my head. Mrs. Healey then got up and preceded to hand back the vocab quizzes. Perfect score well, that’s good. Then she handed out the worksheet we were going to work on in class. I finished it in 10 minutes and reached out to grab my aqua drawing folder. I stopped when I realized that it wasn’t there. Please don’t tell me that I left it with Jake. As if on cue Jake appeared and walked through the classroom door. He handed Mrs. Healey his pass and took his seat next to mine. There was one word that was perfect for this situation. Awkward or as I say, awko taco.

As we sat there a tense silence filled the room, everyone was staring at us, and Jake broke it by whispering,

“Thanks for helping me with the nosebleed.”  He looked at me whereas I continued to look down at my desk.

“You’re welcome.”

“You forgot this.” He said as he slid me a folder but not just any folder, my aqua drawing folder. Crap. I hope he didn’t look inside. They were all of him, well mostly; some were copies of pictures from when we were together.

“Did you look at them?” I looked at him then back at the folder. He turned a bright shade of crimson. Insert sigh here. Why did he have to look? Well I should have known he was my boyfriend after all. I pretty much know him better than myself. I tried to forget but I can’t. The break up is still fresh in my mind.

*Flashback to last Friday*

It was right after first period.

“Hey, can we talk?” He said walking up to my locker.

“Um, sure. When?” I replied grabbing my binder for third period.

“Now. Um, I-I’m breaking up with you.”

I froze.A billion thoughts ran through my mind.

“Wait, what? Was it something I said? Something I did?”One of Taylor Swift’s songs ran through my mind. “Was I out of line? Did I say something way too honest made you run and hide, like a scared little boy?”

“No just,” he sighed deep sigh, “it’s not working-”

“What’s not working? We were doing perfectly fine until you did this!” People started to look. Crap. I did not want to make a scene.

“It’s just not working. We’re over.”He walked away leaving me just standing there. I felt tears well up in my eyes. Instead of going to my next class I went to the Guidance Counselors Office, I really needed some guidance.
