Play the song when you see a ****
It's 1am and we just left the bar a few minutes ago after Harrison finished a couple more whiskey on the rocks and watching me awkwardly squirm from under his stare and his flirtatious behavior, the crisp air hits my lungs as soon as we walked outside and it instantly felt like it soothed my heated skin, always feeling like I was running a fever whenever I'm around him
Harrison suggested walking instead of hailing a taxi, which is why I am so confused and have no idea where we are walking, but we started to stroll down one of the back streets making me regret even more that I'm wearing heels due to the cobblestone paved street we were walking on.
I kept my eyes on the ground trying to make sure that I don't get my heel stuck and fall flat on my face but occasionally trying to take a sneak peek at Harrison's side profile but much to my dismay he always had his eyes on me, eyeing me with what seemed to be curiosity maybe
The silence is overbearing with the only noise being my heels clicking on the concrete, with a quick glance at him before quickly looking back down at my feet before trying to fill the air with something other than the awkward silence that hung around us "How old are you?" I asked which caused his brow to quirk up "Eh, old enough" he replied causing me to swallow the dry feeling in my throat before biting my lip, trying to think of something else to ask "What do you do for work?" I asked
I watched as he put one hand in the pocket of his leather jacket while the other comes up to run through his hair "Why does it matter?" he asked as I bit my lip before shrugging my shoulders "I was just curious" I said glancing at his side profile before looking down at my nails picking at the cuticles of them.
There's another drawn out moment of silence as we continued to walk, our pace was slow and casual until the silence eventually broke by Harrison speaking up " I guess you can say Customer Service in a way" he said making me glance at him with a confused look "Huh?" I asked
"My job. I guess you can say in a way I work in Customer Service" he said glancing up at the sky before looking back at me. Pursing my lips I nodded "Do you like it?" I asked to which he just shrugged his shoulders "I mean...it pays the bills" he said simply, rolling his lips in his mouth as he wets them with his tongue. It's obvious he's not going to explain any further so I looked back down at the ground. While trying to not wonder what his job actually was given his answer.
"What about you? Do you have a job here yet?" he asked while moving closer to me as my jacket covered shoulder brushes against his leather covered bicep. I shake my head "Nope, not yet. I'm hopefully going to get something soon though. Gotta help pay rent with my friends somehow" I said, silently slapping myself over my answer. "What is it you want to do?" he asked tilting his head to try and catch my eye but he almost looked like he was distracted by something else in his own mind
Pulling my mouth to the side as I frowned "Honestly? I'm not really sure, no one's really asked me that before. I really enjoy photography. Back in South Carolina I used to do a lot of photography whether it was people, nature, etc." I said causing him to nod before I continue "But I never really showed anyone my work because I don't think that my stuff is good enough so I've just kept it for myself. So, I guess for now I'll just settle for whatever I can get" I finished.
His hand wraps around my arm, halting me from taking another step. I looked around to see why he had stopped us, only to see the empty street and the golden glow of the streetlights. Turning to face me with his brows furrowed "You've never been asked what you wanted to do?" he asked as I looked at him confused "About work?" I asked slightly puzzled by him stopping me for a question like that, not really understanding why it mattered so much to him. He shook his head looking at me like he was trying to piece a puzzle together "In life, in general" he said
