I woke up to the sound of rushing air in my ears. I forced my heavy eyelids open, and as my vision cleared I came face-to-face with Captain America.
I reared up to attack him, but I was held down by restraints wrapped around my arms, securing me to a chair. I reached up, grabbing the restraints to melt them off, but when I tried to use my powers, nothing happened.
"Relax," He said, his voice weirdly gentle considering I'd kicked his ass a while earlier, "Those cuffs are a little invention we got from HYDRA, courtousy of your friend Strucker. They're power dampening, so your powers won't work while you're-"
"I know what power dampening means, thank you." I shot back, setting into the chair. I looked around to see that I was on some kind of airship, surrounded by Avengers who looked...pathetic, to say the least. "Oof. What happened to you? Earth's mightiest heroes my ass."
"Cap, get the kid to shut up or I'm going to make her." Stark spat over his shoulder. I scoffed, leaning my head back against my seat.
"Aw, what's the matter, Stark? Are you scared of a little girl?" I asked, pouting my bottom lip out.
"You're not just any little girl, now are you?" Cap asked, holding up his melted shield. I shrugged.
"Oops."
"The news is loving you guys," A voice said from the monitor in front of Stark, "Nobody else is. There's been no official call for Banner's arrest, but its in the air."
I glanced over at Dr. Bruce Banner, AKA the Hulk, who I hadn't seen in the fight while I was conscious. He was sitting on the floor with a blanket wrapped over his shoulders, looking about as wrecked as a person could look.
"The Stark Releif Foudation?" Stark asked. I rolled my eyes.
"Already on the scene. How's the team?"
"Everyone's...we took a hit. We'll shake it off."
"Yeah, good luck with that." I muttered, studying my nails through the dampener cuffs.
"Well for now I'd stay in stealth mode...and stay away from here."
"So, run and hide?" Stark asked.
"Until we can find Ultron, I don't have a lot else to offer."
I heard Stark sigh.
"Neither do we." He said. He turned off his screen and then stood up, turning to look at me. I shot him a wink. "You proud of yourself there, Sparky."
"I really am, yeah." I shot back. He shook his head walking up to the front of the ship. I turned my eyes to Captain America again. "So you're the 'Star Spangled Man with a plan', right? So what is the plan? Prison? Some freaky mutant Juvenile Detention Center?"
"For now, its to keep you away from Ultron, and stop you from hurting anyone else." He replied.
"My goal isn't to hurt people," I shot back, propping my feet on a crate that sat across from me, "Just you...and him."
I nodded toward Stark.
"I know what happened to you and your siblings," He stated, "The bomb that collapsed your apartment building?"
"Oh, so they taught you how to use Google when you came out of the ice?" I asked. "Congratulations."
"I know that people like you and your family haven't always been protected-"
"We've never been protected," I spat, my sarcastic smile falling, "All we have ever been overlooked, ignored, and neglected while people like Tony Stark profit off of the evil that runs rampant in our streets. And then the Avengers come waltzing in, acting like our saviors while they blow up our cities and get people killed. That's what happened today, is it not? The Hulk went on another rampage-"
