"Thanks for buying the dress" I said as we walked out of the shop. He just shrugged it off, he wasn't really reacting to it.

Why was he being so nice to me? Why was he giving me a dress when he didn't know me at all?

"So why are you here?" I asked while we were walking through the streets.

It was much busier now, I think everyone wanted to experience the magic. It definitely felt magical around here, but I had to remind myself that it wasn't true.

Magic wasn't real.

"Maybe I wanted to experience the magic again" he looked at me with a smile.

"You don't believe in magic"

"I never said that" his lips turned into a smirk as he looked at me. "Why are you here?"

I took some time to reply while we were walking to a huge well in the middle of the street.

I put my hand on the well, while Jamie crossed his arms in front of his chest. "I am here to find my mom"

Wait, I didn't want to tell him that. I wanted to lie, tell him that I wanted to enjoy the magic as well.

"Is your mom here then?" He tilted his head, still looking at me.

"No, she's n-" I stopped talking. "She went to a show years ago and never came back"

I blinked a few times. "What the fuck is happening?"

"What do you mean?" Jamie frowned.

I shrugged instead of answering, because I wasn't completely sure why I couldn't lie.

"Oh I'm so glad I found you two" Ilyada walked up to us with a smile on her face. "I need a big strong man"

Jamie turned to her, raised his eyebrow a little. "Why?"

"There is a huge spider in my room" she said. "I need you to take care of it"

"Seriously? You're scared of a spider?"

"Um-yeah" she shrugged, looked at me for some help. "Just go help her, I will walk around a bit more" I told Jamie, who was clearly not happy with that.

He sighed a little. "Fine, but be careful"

I nodded, it's not that it was dangerous around here. Even though it was dark, it was more magical than scary.

Jamie walked away with Ilyada, so I decided to walk around a bit, away from the shops.

There were a lot of attractions as well. A fortune teller, a carrousel, a maze, a mirror hall, but I was looking at the empty kissing booth.

As I was looking at it, the sign on top of it changed from kissing booth to killing booth.

Inside, there was a girl and a guy, giggling and kissing each other.

A girl with butterflies around her and a guy, brown hair, tanned and muscular.

It's like no one seemed to notice it. It's like only I could see it.

"All alone again?" Ryder asked, standing next to me.

It's not like I recognized his voice, but I remembered it from only a couple of hours ago.

"Um yeah" I mumbled as the kissing booth changed into his normal form again. "So are you, I guess?"

I turned to Ryder, who looked a bit rougher than before, but I guess it's been a long night for everyone.

Even though I didn't see him in the tent tonight, but then again, it was so big that it was impossible to see everyone.

"Did you like the show?" He asked, his dark eyes were a little darker now.

"I did" I nodded. "What do you think the theme is?"

"Not a clue" he shrugged as we walked passed the kissing booth. "You?"

"I think it's a romance but Jamie seems to think it's more like a tragedy"

He snorted a little. "And why does Jamie think that?"

I shrugged my shoulders. I had actually no idea why he thinks that.

We walked to the carrousel, the lights turned off as soon as we were standing in front of it. "What's happening?"

Ryder didn't really need to explain it, he just nodded at the rising sun.

It was time to go to sleep, that's what was happening.

"Will I see you tomorrow night?" He asked.

"You will, at the ball I guess, I don't think there's a show tomorrow"

He smiled at that. "Not every show is played in there" he nodded at the tent.

"What do you mean?"

"Phoenix has a lot of performers, and they're not only acting their part in that tent" he said before placing a little kiss on my cheek. "Remember that."
