'I thought you were dead?' I asked as I ran through the streets.'I get that a lot' it was almost a whisper. I figured he must be far away from me, or he was tiring himself out from creating that chaos in the tent.
'Didn't Phoenix kill you?'
'He surely tried to' he sounded closer now.
I kept running, leaving a trace of fire and ashes as my dress touched the ground.
I hated this stupid dress.
'Stop running for a second and stand still' the voice said.
Without thinking, I immediately stopped running.
A whirlwind surrounded me.
My dress transformed into a beautiful light blue dress, it was as if it was glowing, it definitely lightened up.
Like lightning in the sky.
'Much better' he said.
He hated the fire dress, because it probably reminded him of Phoenix.
I finally reached the forest and the lake. I had to catch my breath for a second, putting my hands on my hips and looked at the lake.
'We will work on your stamina'
'Try running in a dress, asshole'
He chuckled. 'No thanks'
I put my hand in my bra and grabbed the coins out of it. It was almost midnight.
I tried to remember what the fortune teller told me. At midnight, stand at the lake, with one coin in your hand and close your eyes.
One coin.
I looked down at the coins in my hand. The fortune teller gave me a few coins, but two of them stood out.
One with fire and one with a lightning bolt.
Phoenix and Chaos.
'Remember that you can only pick one' the voice reminded me.
'Which one should I pick?'
'The one that you feel closest to'
I looked at the coin with fire on it.
I always wanted to know more about Phoenix. I came here to find him and beg him to let me join his show.
The stories my parents told me were magical, they told me how legendary Phoenix was.
My mother became obsessed with him.
And all of a sudden, I remembered what I came here to do. I wanted to find my mother. I came to Utopia because I was sure she was here.
Why did I forget that? How could I forget?
But if you truly asked me to which coin I felt closest to right now..
I looked at the coin with the lightning bolt.
Chaos, I knew almost nothing about him. No stories were told about him.
My parents never talked about him.But he seemed to have a far more interesting story. He was the true leader of Utopia, fell in love, betrayed and got betrayed, got cursed, possibly died.
Why didn't my parents tell stories about him?
Maybe because his story wasn't a fairytale. It was a tragedy.
I put the coin with the fire away, held the coin with the lightning bolt in my hand and closed my eyes.
'Good choice'
'Shut up and let me concentrate' I thought back.
He chuckled before it went completely quiet, only the bells sounded in the distance.
It was midnight.
I kept my eyes closed, letting out a soft breath. I was ready for Chaos' memories, even if I kinda expected them to be quite..
chaotic.
