As Akira moved deeper into the academy's shadowed halls, she froze at the sight of dark silhouettes ahead. Quickly, she pressed herself against the wall, peering around the corner. There, in the dim glow of moonlight, she saw a girl with fangs sink her teeth into someone's neck, her eyes gleaming a fierce, unnatural red. Akira stifled a gasp, her heart pounding as she tried to process what she was seeing. Vampires? Here?
Her mind spun, remembering how her roommates, Nara and Amara, hadn't returned to their dorm after curfew. She crept along the wall until she spotted them sitting off to the side of a small, shadowed courtyard. Nara had a thick, ancient-looking spellbook resting on her lap, and as she whispered words under her breath, her eyes darkened to an inky black. Beside her, Amara's eyes glowed red, her fangs glinting as she listened intently.
Akira's chest tightened with a mix of fear and intrigue. Her suspicions had been confirmed—her roommates weren't human. But what did that mean for her? She'd stepped into a world she could barely understand, and now there was no going back.
As Akira tried to slip back to her dorm, her foot nudged a loose book on the ground, sending it clattering against the stone floor. The sound echoed in the quiet hall, sharp and unmistakable. She froze, dread creeping up her spine as she looked back toward the courtyard.
Amara and Nara had both turned in her direction, their supernatural eyes locking onto her with unsettling precision. Nara's dark gaze narrowed, and Amara's red eyes glinted with a dangerous curiosity.
"Is someone there?" Amara's voice was smooth but held a hint of warning.
Akira swallowed, her mind racing. She couldn't let them know she'd been spying. Taking a shaky breath, she stepped out from the shadows, trying to appear casual.
"Oh, Akira..." Nara's voice softened, though her eyes held a piercing intensity. "What are you doing out here this late?"
"I... couldn't sleep," Akira lied, hoping they wouldn't see through her. "Just thought a walk might help."
Amara tilted her head, a faint smirk playing on her lips. "A risky time for a stroll, don't you think?"
Akira's heart hammered as she forced a small smile. "Guess I'll have to be more careful, huh?"
The two girls exchanged a look, and though they said nothing more, Akira sensed they knew far more than they were letting on.
The girls exchanged glances, then turned back to Akira, their laughter light but laced with something darker.
"What did you see?" Nara asked, her tone playful, but her eyes gleaming with intensity. "You saw everything, didn't you?"
Akira felt a chill down her spine but forced herself to keep her composure. She couldn't admit it; she knew they wouldn't take it lightly if she did. "I just... saw you two hanging out," she replied with a shrug, trying to sound nonchalant. "Didn't want to interrupt."
Amara raised an eyebrow, her smirk widening as she took a step closer. "Come on, Akira. You don't seem like someone who'd sneak out just to 'see us hanging out.' Be honest."
Akira's pulse raced as she met their stares,
realizing she was caught in a dangerous game.Akira took a deep breath, the weight of her decision settling in. "Fine, I did see everything," she admitted, her voice steady despite the tension. "But I wanted to know more about this academy and why my grandfather is involved."
The laughter faded, replaced by an unexpected seriousness in the air. Nara and Amara exchanged another look, their expressions shifting from playful to contemplative.
"Your grandfather..." Nara began, her tone more cautious now. "He was one of the few who understood what this place truly is. Silver Moon Academy isn't just a school; it's a sanctuary for beings like us."
"Beings like us?" Akira pressed, her curiosity piqued but also filled with uncertainty.
Amara stepped forward, her red eyes softening slightly. "We're not what you think. There's a history here—a balance between our world and yours. Your grandfather played a role in keeping that balance."
"But why did he never tell me?" Akira questioned, feeling a mix of frustration and intrigue. "What does that make me?"
"You're part of that balance too," Nara replied, her voice low and serious. "You may not be like us, but your presence here means something. We can help you understand—if you're willing to trust us."
"Was my grandfather a supernatural being like you guys?"
"He was not. He was the first headmaster of Silvermoon Academy. He found it for beings like us. He was always kind to everyone even us who weren't human. That's why he was accepted here. The rule was that whenever he passed, his child would become the next headmaster. Which would've been his daughter but since his daughter is also dead—you are next in line to be his successor." Amara told Akira.
"That's absurd! I'm only 18 years old! I can't be a headmaster of anything. How do you know this?"
The girls looked at each other and smirked. "Because Amara here is a witch. She has the ability see the future and she also can predict what happens next..an extremely smart witch who is also my best friend..you saw my fangs too didn't you? So you must already know I am a vampire!" Nara told Akira.
"Still cannot believe this.."
"Don't worry Akira we wouldn't hurt you. Like we said you could always trust us. If there's any danger because possibly there will be..we will be here to protect you. A powerful witch and a vampire who could kill anyone to protect you." Nara smirked.
Akira looked at the two girls. "Sure.."
