nalani walked through her house, finding it strangely empty. wheezie was somewhere with her weird friends, she didn't really care where, and she didn't know where the rest of her family were.
ward and rose were probably parading around sarah while rafe did every type of drug under the sun.
they all knew she was here, yet they left here anyways. that basically summed up what type of family they were.
she walked down her stairs, skipping a step every time. as she turned the corner into her kitchen, she collided with something. well, someone.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY HOUSE?" she screams loudly, "we have cameras, y'know!"
a small hand cups her mouth, silencing her and forcing her to open her eyes. when she looks at the figure, she sees her bestfriend oscar.
"stop screaming!" he whisper-shouts, slowly releasing his grasp on her. "jesus, you really know how to draw attention, don't you?"
"you're the one sneaking into my house, dipshit!" nalani shakes her head before looking him up and down, furrowing her eyebrows. "wait, why are you sneaking into my house?"
"i just wanted to check you were okay." the blonde sighs, "you just stormed off yesterday for no reason and said you were coming back here, like three hours before your curfew!"
"i don't know-". she cuts herself off, "getting shot at is scary okay! i just shut down when i get scared, now can we please go do something normal people do instead of looking for money in dead people's boats?"
"fine, but i don't have any money." oscar looks down at his scruffy shoes, turning them to the side to reveal a massive hole.
nalani smiles, picking up an apple off the island and giving it to him. "it's okay, i have twenty bucks. that's enough for fries and milkshakes at the wreck, right? just stay here while i change."
she turns around, running up the stairs into her bedroom. she changed out of her black and white silk pyjamas into denim shorts and a large t-shirt with patterns all over it, tying her shoulder length hair into a ponytail.
as she walked back into her kitchen, another person had entered it. her big sister, sarah.
"what do you want, sarah?" she crossed her arms over each other, looking at her older sister with a mean glare.
sarah rested her head in her hands, smiling sarcastically at nalani. "gosh, i don't know. just surprised to see a pogue in my house. pogues stealing from my boat, pogues in my house. pogues putting a gun to my boyfriends head." she looked over at oscar who put his hands up in an innocent defense.
"hey, that was jj. not me." he lowers his hands, "plus, i was just waiting here for lani. not stealing anything, i promise i'm not like that."
"lani? she said nobody is allowed-"
"let's go." nalani grabbed oscar by the wrist, dragging him through the foyer and outside to the front of the house. "god, i hate her so much."
"what was she saying?" he faced the big white doors and she slammed it closed, "about your name or something?"
"just that nobody calls me lani, which you already know." she lied, not wanting to share the fact her mother used to call her that. it was a special name, nobody but her favourite people were allowed to call her that. "c'mon, let's just go get food."
"missus cameron and mister maybank, how many i help you today?" mr. carrera took out his notepad, looking down in the booth at the two pre-teens.
"uhh..." nalani looked over at oscar with a panicked face, biting on her bottom lip harshly.
