"wake up, lazy." oscar shook nalani, trying to wake her up. he placed his fingers on her neck, checking her pulse. "guys, i don't feel a pulse."
nalani groaned, rolling over and hitting him in the face, "that's cause you're checking the wrong side, dipshit. someone needs to stop skipping his biology class."
"i don't skip my biology class." he huffs, lightly nudging her in the arm and sending her flying onto the floor.
"ow!" she stands up and gives him a death glare, "seems you need to go back to physics as well because you clearly don't know how to push someone gently!"
"i did, you idiot!" oscar scoffs, sticking up the middle finger to her.
before nalani could suffocate him with her pillow, john b stormed into the house. they both froze as they looked over at him, beginning to rummage through every draw he has.
"you alright man?" pope asked, walking in from outside where the others were setting up the wench for the gold. "what's up?"
"why are you being sherlock holmes?" oscar furrowed his brows, his eyes following john b throughout the room.
"bro, what's going on man?"
john b moved nalani with his arm gently, lifting up the thin couch mattress and pulling out jj's gun. the same gun that he yelled at jj for having yesterday, which was a bit hypocritical.
"john b, what do you need the gun for?" jj took a step towards his best friend, "talk to us!" he yelled as john b grabbed him and slammed him down onto the bed.
"john b, stop." nalani shook her head at him, only to get ignored.
they all followed john b out the back door where he was climbing onto jj's bike, starting it up with the gun in hand.
"john b, what the hell!" kiara shouted as she ran.
his reply was short and his voice shook with fear, "ward knows about the gold, he killed my dad."
as john b drove away, all eyes turned to nalani's shaking body. her dad wasn't a nice man, not to her, not to other people, but he would never kill anyone. right? he ignored her for basically her entire life, brushed her off, made her feel like a burden. nalani still couldn't imagine him killing someone.
did she have a killer for a father? the same man she slept in the same house with for her entire life, the same man that kissed her on the forehead before bed when she was younger. it felt like she was in a box and the walls were closing in on her and all of her friends could watch it happening.
she assumed john b was taking the gun to go and kill ward, which she didn't want to happen. if ward died, she'd be put into rose's care and rose was the same lady who told her dad that she was going to have mental issues like rafe.
also, ward knew about the gold. nalani knew she didn't tell him because he didn't deserve to know a single detail about her life. sarah could've, but they all thought she was one of them now.
nalani wasn't sure what to think. she still loved her dad, no matter what, because he was her dad. the only one she'd ever get. sometimes, that seemed wrong. loving someone who has done so many wrong things. but other times, it was just a way for her to hold onto normality with dear life. like her mom coming back and her parents loving each other again.

nalani's crocs hit the hardwood floor of the cameron home, silent as a mouse. she didn't want anybody to hear her, mainly because she was sneaking around. if her dad knew about the gold he was probably going to take it for himself because he's greedy, she just needed to find out how he was going to do it.
