I packed the last suitcase I had and looked around my room. I had nothing up on the walls whatsoever. No medals, no posters, no pictures, nothing. I remember all of the memories I had in my room and experienced in here and I couldn't believe I was leaving it all behind.
I let out a sigh and finished packing up my backpack for the plane. When I finished, I put it on and grabbed my carry on luggage and brought it downstairs. I noticed my parents and my siblings were still upstairs so I sat down in our empty living room.
I pulled out my phone after I felt it vibrating and saw that my best friend was calling. I immediately answered and smiled when I saw her face pop up on the screen.
"How's the last day going for you?" Adriana, my best friend, asked.
"It's alright. The whole house is empty. I can't believe we're really leaving." I answered.
"It's gonna be okay, but promise me you'll come and visit some time again. Don't you dare forget about me." she said while giving me a serious look.
"I would never forget about your big annoying self." I laughed and teased her a bit.
"Seriously Liyah. I'm gonna miss you and I can't believe I'll have to survive junior AND senior year without you." she said while emphasizing the 'and'.
"I know. I really thought we'd finish the years out together, but it's alright. You got friends at school that are dying to talk to you without me being there right beside you." I said.
"It just wouldn't be the same you know. We were always the best duo at that school. Everyone knew wherever you go, I go too and wherever I go, you go too. We were known as THE best friends, now I'll just be a solo." she said making me remember all of the fun things we did together at school and outside of school.
"Don't worry Ana, I promise I'll try to update you everyday about my new school. You'll get all the drama and inside scoop of the school. It'll be like old times where we're always being nosy and knowing every little thing about everyone." I assured my best friend.
"Sounds like a deal. You still gonna play soccer when you go up there?" she asked me.
"Of course I will. And since we won states our sophomore year, I'm sure we'll be able to play against each other this year. And I know you hate playing against each other, but it just means we'll be able to see each other again." I answered.
She started to talk again when I cut her off after hearing my parents coming down the stairs. I looked back at my phone and told her that I would call her when I landed. I told her that I loved her and we hung up the call.
I stood up and smiled at my parents. My dad grabbed some of our remaining luggages and put it into our car. My mom gave me a kiss on the head and told me to head outside and that she'll wait for my siblings to come out.
I nodded and walked outside. I got into the car and buckled myself in and put my headphones on. When the second song starts playing, I saw my brothers coming out of the house with my mom right behind them.
They opened the door and got in the back with me with each one of them ruffling up my hair. I hit each one of them, because they knew I hated when they did that. They all laughed and got into their seats and buckled up before our dad started driving us to the airport.

When we arrived at the airport, we all wore our backpacks and pulled each one of our carry ons out with us. We walked into the airport and quickly went through security. After doing all of the security checks and whatnot, we headed towards our section.
We all sat down except for my older brother. My mom gave him a card to go buy us some Starbucks and I definitely couldn't pass up the offer of free Starbucks. I told him my order and so did everyone else.
I watched as he walked away and I went back on my phone. I texted Adriana and told her that I arrived at the airport and she quickly replied with a 'have a safe flight!'. I liked her message and went on tiktok.
My attention was pulled away from my phone when I heard my mom talking to my brothers. "Jayden and Jaylen, go and help your brother bring the drinks."
They both nodded and stood up to help Dakari out. I put my phone away and waited for my brothers to bring our drinks. When they got back my brother handed me my drink while saying "Caramel ribbon crunch for the princess." and I gave him a death stare. He laughed and moved on to giving our parents their drinks.

It's been a good 30 minutes while we were waiting in our section, when they finally call us to board the plane. We get in line and wait for our turn before walking through the tunnel that leads us to the plane.
My dad helped me put my luggage into the cabinet and everyone agreed to let me have the window seat. Dakari sat beside me and told me that if I managed to get tired, I could lay my head down on his shoulder and how he wouldn't mind. I nodded and gave him a little smile.
He knew that I was always a bit anxious to get on planes. It's always a bit terrifying for me, that's why he always sits beside me and helps me calm down.
After the flight attendants do their little safety course, the pilot gets on the speaker and announces take off. I tighten up my seatbelt and my leg starts to shake a little. I try to do the little breathe in, breathe out method that Dakari taught me and it's helping a lot.
I felt a hand on my thigh and I opened my eyes to see Dakari trying to calm me down. He whispered to me and said that it was gonna be okay and I started to feel us going up into the sky. A minute later, I felt the plane steady and my anxiousness vanished.
———
I woke up from someone tapping my shoulder and I saw that it was Dakari. He told me that we had landed and that the plane was starting to let people out. I looked out of the window and saw that we were at the airport. I put a little smile on my face knowing that I'm finally back at my old city.
Beverly Hills here I come.
