Nikita Volkov
The world around Nikita blurred into a haze of sounds and sensations as Nikolai rushed her through the grand hall. Guests looked on in shock, their celebratory cheers replaced by gasps and whispers. Pain radiated from her side, but she fought to stay conscious, focused on the warmth of Nikolai's arms cradling her against him.

"Stay with me, Nikita. Just keep your eyes on me," he urged, his voice tight with urgency.

She nodded weakly, trying to concentrate on his face as he pushed through the crowd. The panic etched in his features stirred something deep within her, a fierce determination to stay alive, not just for herself but for him.

The Emergency Room

In the dim light of the emergency room, chaos erupted around them. Nurses rushed in, preparing to treat her while Nikolai stood by, his hands clenched into fists, helplessness flashing in his eyes.

"Get her stabilized!" he barked at the medical staff. "She was stabbed!"

"Sir, we need you to step back," a nurse said, gently but firmly. "We'll take care of her."

"Not a chance," he replied, refusing to budge. "I'm not leaving her side."

Nikita felt a wave of affection for him, even amidst the pain. "Nikolai, please. They know what they're doing," she whispered, her voice barely above a breath.

As they wheeled her into a private room, Nikolai finally relented, stepping back but never taking his eyes off her. She could see the raw fear in his gaze, a stark contrast to his usual confidence.

"Promise me you'll be okay," he pleaded, his voice thick with emotion.

"I promise," she replied, though she wasn't sure herself. "I'll be back to kicking ass in no time."

The Procedure

The doctors began to work, and Nikita felt the sting of a needle as they numbed her side. Panic threatened to claw at her insides, but she pushed it away, focusing instead on the steady rhythm of Nikolai's presence in the room.

"Just breathe," he said softly, standing close enough for her to feel his warmth, a lifeline amidst the chaos.

The procedure felt like an eternity, each second stretching as the doctors worked. She could hear snippets of their conversation, but it all faded into the background, leaving her with nothing but the sound of her heartbeat.

"Stay with me, Nikita," Nikolai whispered again, leaning closer, his hand gripping hers. "You're the strongest woman I know. You can get through this."

She squeezed his hand back, drawing strength from his touch. "I'm not going anywhere," she murmured, willing herself to believe it.

A Moment of Vulnerability

After what felt like forever, the doctors finally finished. They stepped back, leaving her bandaged but stable. Nikolai's relief washed over him like a wave as he leaned over her, brushing her hair from her face.

"You did amazing," he said, his voice a mix of admiration and concern. "I was so scared."

"Me too," she confessed, her voice shaky. "But I'm here. We're okay."

He hesitated before speaking again, his expression serious. "I don't want you to take risks like that anymore. I can't lose you."

She chuckled lightly, despite the pain. "We're in this together, remember? You can't get rid of me that easily."

"I wouldn't want to," he admitted, his eyes softening as he looked at her. "I'm just... I've never felt this way about anyone before."

"Neither have I," she said, her heart swelling with emotion. "But we have to be careful. This life we chose... it's dangerous."

Nikolai's gaze darkened with determination. "I won't let anyone hurt you again. I swear it."

A Romantic Interlude

As the night wore on and the doctors finished their checks, the reality of their situation sank in. Nikita was injured, but they had made it through together.

With a nurse's reassurance that she would be okay and the promise of painkillers to help her rest, Nikolai settled into a chair beside her bed, unwilling to leave her side.

"Tell me about your plans for us," she said, wanting to lighten the mood, a teasing smile playing on her lips. "Now that you're a married man, what do you see for the future?"

He smirked, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "I see a world where we run this city together. You, me, and our little mafia empire. We'll show them what real power looks like."

"Can I still kick ass?" she asked, her expression playful.

"Absolutely. I'll even let you take the lead sometimes," he said, laughter dancing in his voice.

"I'd like to see you try," she challenged, a warmth blossoming in her chest.

As they bantered back and forth, the atmosphere shifted from one of tension to comfort. Nikolai leaned forward, his face inches from hers, his gaze searching her eyes.

"Promise me that after this, we'll be unstoppable," he whispered, the intimacy of the moment wrapping around them like a warm embrace.

"Promise," she replied, her heart racing.

Before she could think, she pulled him closer, their lips crashing together in a passionate kiss that ignited the room. The taste of his lips felt like home, a reminder of what they had fought for and what lay ahead.

The Aftermath

As they pulled away, breathless and a little dazed, the reality of their love settled in. They were bound together now, not just by their marriage but by shared experiences that would forever change them.

Suddenly, the door creaked open, and a familiar face appeared—Viktor, Nikolai's loyal right-hand man. His eyes widened as he took in the scene, the affection radiating between them.

"Uh, am I interrupting something?" he asked, a smirk tugging at his lips.

Nikolai shot him a glare but couldn't hide the smile creeping onto his face. "You just don't know when to knock, do you?"

"Sorry to crash the moment, but we need to talk about Sofia and the attack. Things are getting serious out there," Viktor said, his tone shifting from playful to serious.

Nikita exchanged a glance with Nikolai, feeling the weight of the world pressing down again. "Then let's talk," she said, her voice firm. "I'm not done yet."
