Nikolai Russo
Nikolai wasn't in the habit of playing defense. Cardenas's "truce" had confirmed one thing: the man was desperate, and desperate men made sloppy decisions. But Nikolai knew that this was just the calm before the storm. If they didn't strike first, they'd be opening themselves up to a world of danger. He was sprawled out on the couch, running strategies in his mind, when Nikita walked in. She looked fierce, ready for a fight, yet somehow her presence was calming. But before he could lose himself in her, he had work to do.
"Cardenas won't back off," Nikolai said, his voice a low growl. "His men will hit us when we least expect it."
Nikita leaned against the wall, arms crossed. "Then we'll hit him first. Make sure he knows who he's dealing with."
Nikolai grinned, a dangerous glint in his eyes. "That's the spirit."
The Plan
They huddled together, piecing together a plan that would cripple Cardenas's network, slowly dismantling his alliances and resources. Nikolai mapped out the steps on a paper, and as he did, Nikita couldn't help but admire his precision and ruthlessness. There was a certain thrill in planning something so dangerous together, their minds perfectly in sync.
Nikita looked at him with a playful smirk. "You know, if we weren't in the middle of planning someone's downfall, this would be kind of... romantic."
Nikolai chuckled, raising an eyebrow. "You find scheming romantic?"
She shrugged, coming closer. "Only with the right partner."
Before he knew it, she was straddling him, the plan temporarily forgotten as her lips brushed his, teasing. Nikolai's hands found her waist, pulling her closer as their tension flared. Their moments together were like this—intense, raw, and electric.
"Remember," she whispered against his lips, "we're supposed to focus."
"You're making that hard," he murmured back, capturing her lips in a deep kiss that left them both breathless.
The Raid
Later that night, they executed the first part of their plan. Together with Dimitri and a few other trusted men, they launched a surprise attack on one of Cardenas's main warehouses. The place was heavily guarded, but Nikita and Nikolai moved in sync, each covering the other's back as they took down guard after guard.
Nikita threw a punch, taking down a guard with her skillful boxing moves, while Nikolai disarmed another with a swift kick, his tattoos glistening under the dim light. They were unstoppable, a deadly team that knew each other's movements perfectly.
When they finally reached the center of the warehouse, where Cardenas's lieutenants were gathered, Nikita gave Nikolai a nod. He knew exactly what she was thinking.
They burst in, taking down the lieutenants one by one until only the leader remained.
"Tell Cardenas we're coming for him," Nikolai said, his voice cold and unwavering. "And there's nowhere he can hide."
The man nodded shakily, visibly terrified, and ran out of the warehouse, leaving them standing in the aftermath.
After the Mission
Back at the safehouse, the adrenaline was still running high. Nikita and Nikolai returned, blood-streaked and victorious. The thrill of their success filled the air, and neither could deny the intensity crackling between them.
Nikita looked at him, a mischievous glint in her eye. "We make a pretty good team, don't we?"
Nikolai pulled her close, his voice a low whisper. "You know you drive me crazy, right?"
She smirked, leaning into him. "Good. Now, show me just how crazy."
They didn't make it to the bedroom, falling into each other's arms right there, lost in a fiery embrace that was both intense and consuming. In each other, they found the fire they'd been searching for—one that wouldn't be extinguished, no matter what enemies stood in their way.
