Emily arrived at the rooftop bar, scanning the crowd for James. Their friendship spanned decades, from playful school days to lingering college crushes.

Spotting James, Emily's heart fluttered. His warm smile welcomed her.

"Hey, Em," James said, as she slid into the seat beside him.

Emily's eyes sparkled. "Hey, Jim."

Their easy banter flowed like a well-rehearsed dance. James knew nothing of Agent Black, only Emily, his childhood friend and secret college crush.

As they sipped their drinks, Emily's thoughts drifted to her dual life. How could she reconcile her dangerous work with her feelings for James?

James noticed her distant gaze. "Everything okay, Em?"

Emily smiled, pushing aside her concerns. "Just college stress."

James nodded sympathetically. "You'll manage. You always do."

Their fingers touched, sending shivers down Emily's spine.

"Emily," James said, his voice low, "I've missed you."

Emily's heart skipped a beat. Was James finally confessing his long-held feelings?

Their eyes locked, the air thick with unspoken emotions.

James's gaze held Emily's, the city lights twinkling around them like stars.

"I've missed you, Em," he repeated, his voice laced with longing.

Emily's heart fluttered. She'd waited years to hear those words.

"James," she whispered, her hand covering his.

Their fingers intertwined, a spark of electricity running through them.

The rooftop bar's noise faded into the background as they sat, lost in each other's eyes.

Emily felt the mask of Agent Black slipping away, revealing her true self.

James's thumb caressed her hand, sending shivers down her spine.

"Emily," he said, his voice barely above a whisper, "I've wanted to tell you something for a long time."

Her pulse quickened. Was this the moment?

"Tell me," she encouraged, her voice barely audible.

James's eyes searched hers, as if seeking permission.

"Emily," he began, his voice trembling, "from the moment we met in playground, I knew you were special. In college, I couldn't muster the courage to tell you how I felt. But now..."

Emily's heart skipped a beat.

"Now?" she prompted, her breath held.

James's eyes locked onto hers.

"Now, I realize I've been in love with you for years."

Emily's world stopped.

Their lips met in a tender, long-awaited kiss.

The city lights blurred around them, leaving only the two of them, lost in their love.
James proposed Emily for marriage and she agreed. And promised never to leave her and lead a happy life.
