A/n: This was requested by @New_Yorxer and I thought it was a good idea.
It's very short as it's only a little flashback to when Koleda and Y/n were kids.
When it comes to agent stories, I think they will be separate from the main story. Each agent story will probably be written as one chapter instead of split into many chapters.
Anyway, despite it being short, here's a little background of Koleda and Y/n's friendship.
~
For her tender age, Koleda was a pretty mature young girl; more so than a high number of her peers. This was thanks to her father, Khors Belobog who owned a new up and coming construction company: Belobog Industries.
It was her father's wish that one day when she was much older, she would take over from him so he could retire. However for now, he had to compete with being president of the company and being a father to a little girl at the same time.
But Koleda was never unhappy or neglected. She was tough, not easily swayed or pushed aside despite only being a child.
And it's for these reasons, she was not a kid to be messed with. In school, she had a few friends, but there was only one that she considered her best friend.
"Y/n!!!" The young girl cheered, bounding over to you.
At the time, you were a shy and reserved child who preferred to keep to yourself. It meant it was hard for you to make friends, but Koleda made the process a lot simpler by just approaching you one day and grabbing your hand.
"Me and you are going to be friends!" She said, giving you no chance of protesting.
And since then, you had stuck by her side.
"Hi Koleda...how are you today?" You asked, mustering up a smile for your friend.
"I'm doing preeeety good! My daddy said he's taking me to see his brand new machine! He told me that it's still being built at the moment, but that one day, I would be the one using it!" She said, excitedly.
"Wow! That's so cool!" You replied.
Koleda nodded and grinned, grabbing hold of your hand and dragging you up from your seated position on the ground. You came up to just under her chin back then, something that the young Koleda saw as a sign that she was responsible for protecting you.
"Hey, Koleda! Whatcha doing hanging out with this loser?"
Which she had to do quite often, since you were a target for some of the other kids. She could never understand why they were so mean and picked on you when you did nothing to ever provoke them.
Given your timid nature, she always took it upon herself to stand up for you.
"Hey! Don't say that! Y/n is not a loser! He's my best friend!" Koleda huffed in annoyance, glaring at the group of bullies, squeezing your hand tighter.
"You shouldn't hang around him too much! He might spread some nasty loser germs to you!" Another kid said, which irked Koleda even more.
She was just about to say something, when she felt a light tug on her hand.
"Leave it, Koleda..." You muttered, keeping your head down as you tried to pull her away.
"No! I'm not gonna let them say mean things about you!!" She barked, her eyes never leaving the group of bullies.
"Come on guys. We shouldn't waste our time here. Let her become a loser or whatever..." One of them said, quickly losing interest with the others quickly following suit.
Koleda was still livid though, that those kids had taken the time to walk over and make fun of you. She would've done a lot more had you not been present.
Your presence had a calming effect on her, which helped given that similar scenarios to this one, occurred quite often.
"I'm sorry, Koleda...I know I shouldn't need to have you here to stand up for me..." You said.
"We're friends, you dummy...I'll always stand up for you." She said, turning around and hugging you, letting the top of your head tuck underneath her chin.
The feeling of security you felt around Koleda, was the same level that you felt at home around your parents. They often worried about you not making enough friends, but did not want to force you.
"Koleda...?" You said.
"Huh? What's up?" She asked.
"Are we gonna be friends forever?" You replied with a question that had been on your mind.
"Of course we are! We're gonna stay the bestest of friends forever and ever!" She said, her voice sincere as she made that promise.
You nodded your head and kept on hugging her, happy to hear her sincerity.
"...since you made a promise...I want to make one as well." You said.
"What is it?" She asked.
"One day, I'm gonna become big and confident, so I can protect you and stand up for you! Just like you do for me!" You said.
"Just you wait!" You stated, a new found fire and desire to change ignited in your body.
That meant a lot to Koleda. She knew how much you appreciated and valued her; to hear you promise that one day you wanted to return the favour, meant the world.
From that day forward, you began your long journey to discover and grow into a more confident person; inspired purely by your best friend.
~
"To think that he used to come up only to my chin..."
The now 18 year old Koleda said to Grace as she watched you talk with Belle. The smile on your face was wider and brighter than when you were younger, and you stood with more confidence.
You were no longer the shy boy she remembered from childhood.
"He really did keep that promise...that he'd become big and confident. He helped me through that difficult night after our argument..." She said.
"You know, sweet pea...whenever you described him to me, I always knew losing touch with him impacted you as much as losing your father did. After Khors disappeared, you needed a friend to confide in." Grace said.
"I...don't really know why I left him. I just...wanted out of that apartment as soon as it was clear my dad wasn't coming back. I never meant to..." Koleda trailed off, a few tears brimming around her eyes.
"But it doesn't matter now...he's back in my life again now. I won't make the same mistake twice..." She said.
"I won't lose my best friend again..."
