Ye Jinyu finally left obediently.

Song Yingqing stood beside Xiao Nanhe, watching him calmly. After considering his words carefully, he asked, "She only gave you a hundred yuan?"

"Yes."

Xiao Nanhe nodded, looking quite pleased. "I spent ten yuan in the morning, twenty at noon, and two in the evening. There’s still fifty left each day."

Song Yingqing was speechless.

It was the first time he had met someone more content with so little like himself.

Worried that Xiao Nanhe’s naivety might get him into trouble, Song Yingqing thought about how to subtly persuade him. But before he could put his thoughts together, he heard Xiao Nanhe ask, "Qingqing, do you want to join? It’s only a hundred yuan a day, but it’s still money."

Song Yingqing was taken aback. "Two…two male waiters and a female?"

"Huh?" Xiao Nanhe looked equally confused. "What two male waiters and a female?"

"No, no!" Song Yingqing shook his head quickly, firmly declining.

Trying to maintain his composure, he said, "I’m content with my life as it is." He added pointedly, "I don’t need the money."

"Alright then."

Xiao Nanhe nodded, looking a little disappointed as he let it go. To him, it seemed strange that Song Yingqing would turn down such easy money, just for chatting and spending time together. He had hoped for some company.

Finally, he added, "If you change your mind, you know where to find me."

Song Yingqing managed a stiff nod, barely squeezing out a quiet, "...Alright."

From that day on, Song Yingqing couldn’t help but look at Ye Jinyu in a new light. He found himself disliking her, though he wasn’t exactly sure why. He even began questioning her friendship with Nan Huaiyi; after all, people often said they had similar personalities. Was Ye Jinyu as flawless as she seemed, or was there more to her than he knew?

Nan Huaiyi, who missed his cooking skills, invited Song Yingqing over when she eventually finished her work and got back to City A. However, she soon became uneasy when she saw that Song Yingqing was staring at her oddly.

After a few moments, Nan Huaiyi finally asked, "What’s wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?"

Song Yingqing quickly averted his gaze, staring down into his rice bowl. "It’s nothing," he mumbled.

After putting down her chopsticks, Nan Huaiyi leaned back and folded her arms, studying Song Yingqing intently. "Just tell me if something’s on your mind."

Her gaze was piercing.

Reluctantly, Song Yingqing looked up with a conflicted expression on his face. "Do you…do you know about Senior Ye?"

Nan Huaiyi frowned slightly, clearly puzzled. "What about her? Should I know?"

"You…" Song Yingqing hesitated, knowing this was a private matter.  However, his time spent with Xiao Nanhe had shown him how honest and straightforward he was. Unable to hold back, he finally said, "Could you talk to Senior Ye? She shouldn’t play with people’s feelings."

"Playing with feelings?" Nan Huaiyi repeated, almost tasting the words as if they were foreign to her.

There was a moment of stunned silence. His voice shook. "Is she… that kind of person?"

Song Yingqing was exasperated. Isn't this what I'm asking? How come you're so surprised?

With a look of betrayal, Nan Huaiyi pulled out her phone and dialed Ye Jinyu's number. The call connected after a few rings.
