Yunhui took in a deep breath as her fingers rested against the door handle, thinking of some stupid motivational line to hype herself up.

Come on Yunhui! What doesn't kill you makes you stronger...right?—The boss is gonna love that one

Another knock was heard against the door, the same light rhythm that Jaehyun always used, that's how she knew it was him every time. She took in another breath before she pushed down on the handle, opening the door.

"Hi..." she said, looking up nervously at the relaxed smile on his face

"Hey" he replied, watching her move to the side to let him inside. He immediately removed his shoes by the hallway, his hand loosening the tie around his neck before unbuttoning the first two buttons by his collar.

"How was shopping?" He asked, easing into the conversation and her shoulders dropped with relief

Okay great, I guess we'll just pretend like that whole this never happened! Perfect!

"It was good...I got a new bag but I didn't have much time to open it yet..." she trailed off, heading into the living room and passing the kids who sat by the couch watching paw patrol

I wish I never used his stupid discount code!

"Yeah the buckle bag...It's really nice. It suits you" he said, following behind her, taking his blazer off and slinging it over a dining chair, waving at the kids who seemed too immersed in the cartoon show to care about his arrival

Why? Does the bag scream desperate too?

"So uh...what was that all about earlier?" He asked, leaning against the counter and watching her freeze her movements for a few seconds

"What are you talking about?" She asked playing dumb, reaching for the bottle of wine and a glass, looking over her shoulder and he nodded, asking for one as well

"You know what I'm talking about." He said, his head cocking to the side before he placed his elbow on the counter, shifting his weight onto it as he watched her pour a glass for him

"Your little visit during my meeting—"

"You don't have to keep lying Jaehyun. If it's a date just say that—"

"But it wasn't." He said, shaking his head at how much convincing she needed

"Right, because every work meeting requires ambience. You guys were sharing a coffee in La Reverie, that's like the date spot in town!" She said

"She's new to the area and she didn't know. Plus, she's vegan and they ran out of oat milk so she didn't get a coffee—" he cut himself off with a scoff, catching her attention

"You're jealous." He said, the corners of his lips tugging up into a smirk, realising just how observant she was about their meeting

Oh here we go...

"Not even in the slightest." She responded, stepping towards him and extending his glass of wine out to him. He licked his lips lightly, breaking their eye contact before he wrapped his fingers on the glass, intentionally around hers as well for a second, holding her in place with a stunned expression

"Good...because you being jealous wouldn't make sense when you're still wearing your wedding ring" he said, finally loosening his grip on her fingers and taking the glass from her hands

"Maybe some people don't get over things as easily as you do" Yunhui said, it was a little rude even for her, to assume that he had gotten over his dead ex-wife just from assuming he was on a date
