AN: *important please read* Hello! Thank you for getting this far and reading my book. My story is mostly planned out and written. Please like, comment and share so I know people actually like this novel so that I will be encouraged to post the rest. If the book doesn't do that well in ratings, unfortunately, I won't be posting the other chapters since I'll assume not that many people like it. Thank you for helping a girl out! 💜

Felix's confession still hung in the air, his eyes searching Josephine's for any hint of reciprocation. She sat there, motionless, her hands slowly slipping from his. Her eyes softened, but a distant, guarded expression crept across her face as she looked away, biting her lip.
Felix waited, his heart hammering against his ribs. He'd laid out everything—every hidden feeling he'd kept locked away, every hope he'd silently nursed. This was his one chance. His one chance to be with her. He'd hoped that she would feel the same way so that he could be truly happy. He thought that were soulmates if they knew each-other this long and never had any arguments. They always agreed on the same things, they always comforted eachother, they always saw each-other and wanted to see each-other. And then she finally looked back at him. There it was. Her gaze filled with a mix of hesitation and something he couldn't quite place.
"Felix... I... I don't know how to say this." Josephine's voice was barely a whisper, her words faltering as she glanced down at her hands. "You're my best friend, and I care about you so much. But I... I can't be with you that way."
Josephine didn't know what to say in this situation. Larisa was right. I mean, Josephine wasn't stupid, she would sometimes see the looks that Felix would give her. Although, she simply tried to brush it off and think of those looks as brotherly protective looks. Felix never dated anyone or had any hookups and Josephine wondered why. Felix is an attractive lean young man, if he actually tried to get together with someone it would've been possible. Every-time Josephine would try and find him a date, he'd always decline. Every. Single. Time. He would just say, I'm looking for the right girl and things. He would even get a few confessions and him rejecting them was beginning to be a common thing. All her friends in high school and college would tease her saying that he actually meant her as the "right girl". If Josephine knew he had these feelings bottled up, she wouldn't have been holding his hands, or hugging or cuddling him as much over the years. She feels bad doing those things now, knowing what he now feels officially.
Her words hit Felix like a wave of cold water. He tried to mask his disappointment, forcing a smile, but he could feel it cracking at the edges. "Why not?" he asked, his voice softer now, pleading. "I mean... I think we're perfect together. We've always been there for each other. I know you, Jo, better than anyone. And I'd be there for you, always."
She hesitated, twisting a strand of hair around her finger, her face tightening with guilt. "Felix, it's not about you... It's... it's me."
Josephine looked around, hesitating even more before she spoke. It looked like she was finding the right words to say. "I just don't... feel that way."
