Fair warning Sam and Carter make out a bit- NOT SMUT DONT WORRY. someone needs to take away my romance books 😭

Zuri was quietly looking out the window, trying to figure out what to do. Nights had passed, so many nights since they and Soul were kidnapped. Yet the nightmares of what could have happened remained. People forgot about it, like it wasn't important. Tears pricked their eyes. There was something wrong with Soul, they knew there was. You can't just forget stuff like that. Zuri sighed. Glancing at Shuki who was sound asleep. They needed to tell Ellie at least, maybe Charlie. Although if they got caught talking to Charlie, it could be bad. Ash had been strict about the new rules, including no communication to the enemy. The punishment was public execution and exile. Harsh much. They thought. Zuri never quite could figure out what the issue was with GemSMP. Besides Sam, and the bad people. But there were bad people everywhere, so why was it different? No one ever answered them that question. Zuri was scared. Scared of being taken again, scared of dying again, scared of the duel between Soul and Sam. Why did Ash allow it?

Carmel sat quietly. His sleep schedule was absolute shit. He knew Sam did something. Something. But what? Soul was smart enough to decline the duel, so why did she accept? She already lost three lives. Half of six. Carmel grimaced. They were supposed to be enemies, but he always had a soft spot for Soul. He knew she'd never return the feelings. But he still cared, and watched out for her. He glanced up as Charlie quietly snuck out. Wasn't hard to see why, she was probably in a relationship with Soul. Carmel looked to the side, jealousy eating at him. Soul was happy with Charlie. She was happier with someone else, that thought alone hurt. To think she'd never like him like that, to see him the way she saw Charlie. Carmel sighed, his head in his hands. He needed to stop. They were enemies. Not friends anymore, and definitely not lovers. His mind wondered. Kids in war. Carmel was nine when he met the eight year old Soul. She was sweet to him, kind. That's what caused him to fall so hard. Soul was kind to everyone. If you needed her, she'd be there for you. She followed her sister's dream. Soul left everything behind for the person she cared for. She left him behind...Soul never looked back, she never bothered or wanted to. Her life was perfect now...without him.

Charlie paced in her room. This was bad. Sam tricked her, tricked everyone. He was going to kill Soul. Dead, gone. Sure it wasn't totally game over. Soul would only have lost four lives if he did win the duel. But four out of six? That was to high. She couldn't talk though. Charlie only had one life left. A fourteen year old only having one final life left. Tragic isn't it? Soul only saw the good side of her. If only Soul knew what laid beneath. Charlie's memories flashed again. She slumped into the chair, the soft fabric a small comfort. She wished it swallowed her whole, and left no trace of her existence. For years the anger and guilt had brewed. The memories always stayed, nightmares. The memories of the people's whispers. The shouts of being a freak, the smell of smoke, the crying, the pain. Charlie opened her eyes, back in the field. It wasn't spring anymore, as it was back then. Cold air nipped her face. The graves by the tree. Half made, no one bothered to finish. She blinked back in her room. Charlie got up and snuck off into the night, going to find Soul.

Sam lazily listened as Carter explained the issues going on. Something about more deaths or something. Sam groaned, irritated. "Carter, non of this matters. Once we destroy Bellsburg, it'll be fine." Carter's eyes narrowed. Carter was Sam's advisor, so him ignoring Carter irritated him. "Sam. We have spent to much resources, soldiers, and time on that nation. Let them destroy themselves-" "No. I want to be the one to do it." Sam's voice was harsh. Carter didn't seemed phased. Sam had always been an ass to people, so this was expected. "So you want to waste more valuable time on them? People are starving. Their dying Sam! We need to focus on the main issues." Carter didn't understand why Sam was so focused on Bellsburg. There wasn't any reason. But deep down. He knew why. Sam just wanted revenge for what happened. In Carter's eyes it was pathetic, revenge over something that was already solved. "Don't stress to much" Sam brushed Carter off. Carter narrowed his eyes. "We have major issues Sam!- people are dying left and-" Carter wasn't able to finish as Sam and his lips connected. Carter's eyes widened. But he soon kissed Sam back, melting into Sam's embrace. Sam hadn't done this before. The desire was very clear. The kiss quickly turned heated. Both to enveloped in the kiss to notice anything going on around them. Carter knew he shouldn't do this, he should tell Sam to stop. But something stopped him, he wanted this. Strange but he did, and it was clear Sam did to. Sam's hands held onto Carter's waist, gripping tightly as he easily picked up Carter. Sam carefully carried Carter to his desk, pushing the items on his desk to the side. Sam set Carter down, both breathing heavily, Sam's hands roaming Carter's body. Sam made sure to not interrupt the kiss. After what felt like hours they parted. Both breathing heavily. Carter cleared his throat. His face slightly red. Sam grinned, he knew exactly how to push Carter, and this he had been waiting to do. "We should clean up" Carter spoke up after a few moments. His embarrassment clear in his voice. Sam gave a low smirk, an unfamiliar look in his eyes. "Why? The fun's just getting started"
