A Night at The Bar

I came back to where pain in painted in many colors
Sometimes it's so much gold and silver,
Like a pirate's nightly wet dream
On days, it's a blinding bright yellow,
Like innocence was at the realm's gate
The door I walked out from, with glee all over me
It was the same one I walked in, empty handed
Everything was a mistake, I made them so cleanly
All that felt right every single time,
Falling perfectly together,
As though I finally chose the right path this time,
Crumbled down so fast,
I blinked my eyes,
And I was on the bare ground, naked;
So, I came back...

At first, it was sleepless nights and endless crying
I couldn't figure out where I went wrong and why
Everyone was so happy to have me, but me?
I could barely smile, I just don't know why
The guilt and shame consumed me,
I failed again– like every other time
But let's exhale, I quietly thought
Ease my mind; silent it for a moment

Clarity wasn't one of gifts I had yet,
The rose colored glasses looked too good on me
Gradually, I put down the dagger and calmly walked
My feet led me to where I needed to go,
Who I needed to go to,
And then we talked...

It all happened like this:

The mirror showed you a face full of light
You brought joy everywhere you went
When you wanted to steal a little for yourself
They all said you were selfish; you are no friend
So, you continued sharing yourself- as you promised
Breaking parts of you to give it to the whole table,
Making sure no one is left out
When you ran dry, and had nothing left to give
You went to the man who swore to fill you back up
Little did you know, he was the hungriest of them all
He wanted more of you than you could give,
But your generosity never fails, does it?
He kept taking all that he could until his ego was full,
You came back emptier than ever; dry as a desert

"Look around you, no one cares, they see you cry, but turn a blind eye, because we are here to dance– come on, dance..."
