With a headache and back pain, I exhausted myself over the following hours, trying to live up to this job. Aware that I would be spending a lot of time within these walls, I had to adjust as quickly as possible to this crazy pace. Because yes, even though I had been hired through connections, I had to prove myself. It was part of my role.

The night team arrived just as our two team leaders were explaining the importance of creating a good first impression with clients while combining politeness and professionalism. The day was finally coming to an end.

"We'll continue tomorrow!" Hoshi declared, clapping his hands. "I wish you all a good evening."

Without wasting a second, we took our leave, eager to leave the suite. Moments later, the four of us were in the hallway. As we passed by, we greeted the new teams starting their shifts.

"My feet hurt," Becky complained, standing next to me while we waited for the elevator. "What are you doing tonight? Are you heading straight home?"

"Yes... well, no. I'm just going to stop and eat first."

I answered vaguely, hoping my new colleagues wouldn't ask more questions. Still shy around them, I spoke little.

"You're lucky," said Emil, standing to my right with his hands in his pockets, shoulder against the wall. "We're stuck here. We can go out in the evening until 11:00 p.m."

Alan let out a bitter laugh:

"The line for the showers is so long that it's usually too late by then. Luckily, we have our days off."

The elevator arrived at that moment on the 118th floor.

Outside, the cold hit me. Night had already fallen over the city for several hours. I pulled my coat tighter around myself, then checked my phone. Mrs. Han reminded me in a message of the time and address of the meeting, along with a few instructions to follow. I let out a weary sigh before putting my phone back in my pocket. My gaze swept the surroundings. There were few people in front of the Empire Queen Palace. I began walking towards the bus stop but quickly changed my mind. I couldn't afford to be too late for the restaurant. I decided to take a taxi.

When the car pulled over, I hurried inside. After giving the address to the driver, I settled into the backseat. The thought of meeting Eliel in just a few minutes kept me from resting or thinking clearly. My chest tightened with nervous palpitations. I felt stage fright, like I was about to perform. An artist thing, I tried to reassure myself, in vain. The more minutes passed, the more the stress grew. Anxious, I stared out the window, watching the landscape go by without really seeing it. This day truly seemed endless.
