MYSTIC MAGE
CHAPTER 11: Sick boy
The old man turns to see a face he never thought he would see again so soon, wanting to lend him a hand.
"Don't worry it's fine" He say's,
"No I insist" Cassian say's, not taking no for an answer.
He collects the crate from the old man and walks to the house nearby, where the man was stacking the crates to. The man was stunned by his kindness, young folks these day's don't respect thier elder like they did during his time. It's just assive the world changed right before his eyes and he didn't even notice. The Old man was glad that there are few left who have respect, like the young man helping him out.
So he decided to get to know him,"So why did you come back to help me out, don't youngsters usually go out parting and adventuring with thier friends" He asked,
"I have no friends" Cassian replies,
"Ohh" The Old man was surprised by his words and wanted to know more.
"And why is that so" He say's and drops the crate he lifted from the carriage.
"You never know who to trust" Cassian said,
"That is true" The Old man say's feeling that the young man had had a taste of the bad side of life at such a young age.
"So why all these healing portions and herbs"
Cassian asked, redirecting the questions away from himself."Do you sell them" He asked,
"No I don't" The Old man say's and drops a crate on the ground and his face sulk, looking sad.
"Thier for my Grandson" Said the Old man,
Cassian stops in his tracks, he doesn't know how to react. All these potions and herbs for a single child sick child, then something is definitely wrong.
"What happened to him" Cassian asked, the old man bends backwards a little and a crack sound was heard from his back.
"I don't know, his been sick for a long time. It started a few years after he was born" He said,
"What about his parent" Cassian asked carrying out another wooden crate from the carriage.
""They left"
Cassian froze on hearing his words,"They gave up on him?" Cassian asked,
""Yeah heard them discussing one night about how they can't take the pain and I left my daughter and her husband to sort it out, but the next day they were gone and no sign of thier things" The old man said and carries the last box, before finally closing the carriage.
"You haven't?" Cassian asked,
"yes I haven't, I believe there's always a way out of a situation. I've called so many healers spent so much money on his health and I hope for improvements one day" The man say's,
"I just want him to feel loved, even if he doesn't make it he should know that I care. But I don't want that to happen, I just want to give him a life where he can be happy" He said,
Cassian froze in place, this man reminded him so much of his neighbour. The same way this man believed in his grandson, that's the same his neighbour believed in him. Even when no one else did, even when his parents counted him a failure, he didn't give up on him and now he is not going to abandon this man and his grandson.
"Sir can I see your grandson, I might be able to help" Cassian say's,
The Old man looks at the young lad in front of him with doubts,
"Are you a healer?" He asked,"No but I am a mage" Cassian say's.
The Old man was doubtful, he had tried and called professional healer from many kingdoms for his grandson and even went into debts but none were able to heal him of his ailment, nut yet they still collected large sum from him. But he wasn't giving up, his willing to give the young mage a try.
"Let me get him ready" The man say's,
"In the meantime, can you pack the boxes into the house" He said,
"I have no problem with that" Cassian replies like someone eager and motivated to do work.
The man walks into his house and leaves the door open so cassian can be able to carry the crates in without stress. Cassian turns to the crates feeling motivated but seeing how many they were laziness set in. Moved my the spirit of laziness, he pulls out a card and threw it at the crates. As it touched the crates, the whole pile vanishes assive they were never there and he walks into the house.
Cassian steps into an empty room, with a single chair and small table, very spacious and also dull. No picture, no accessories, no even a clack was hanged on the wall, the room was dull,
"The old man must have sold all he had for his grandson"
"No matter what sickness it I am not leaving here without helping helping the man's grandchild" He said,
The empty room showed the hardwork of the man on his grand child so he was determined to do all he can to heal the child. He turned to the corner in the room and threw a card at it, and with a lash of light from the card, the boxes reappeared and were stacked on top of one another in an orderly fashion.
He turns to the looking at the empty room he was in Not far from him in the room, there was a door He waits and stares at the door, begins to space out.
