Valentine's Day was just around the corner, and excitement buzzed through the school like static electricity. Hearts adorned the hallways, and couples exchanged sweet nothings, leaving single students feeling a mix of envy and anticipation. For Yugo and his friends, this year promised to be particularly memorable.

Koga sat at the lunch table, fidgeting with a small red box that she had tucked away in her backpack. Her heart raced as she contemplated what to do with it. The box contained chocolates for Haruka—her way of confessing her feelings for her best friend.

"What's with the serious face, Koga?" Izumi teased, nudging her shoulder. "Are you planning something?"

Koga's cheeks flushed. "Uh, no! Just... thinking about the upcoming dance."

Izumi raised an eyebrow, unconvinced. "Right. You're definitely hiding something."

Meanwhile, Yugo, seated beside Izumi, was immersed in his own thoughts. He had a plan to surprise Izumi with a special gift, but the pressure of making it perfect weighed heavily on him. "I just want it to be special," he murmured to himself, oblivious to the whispers of excitement around him.

Sonoi overheard and leaned in, smirking. "What are you planning, Yugo? A grand declaration of love?"

"Something like that," Yugo replied, a hint of nervousness creeping into his voice. "But it needs to be perfect."

"Relax! It's Valentine's Day, not a marriage proposal," Sonoi laughed. "Just be yourself."

As the week progressed, the group exchanged ideas about how to celebrate Valentine's Day. Katsumi suggested a group outing, while Haruka insisted on a quiet dinner at her favourite restaurant. However, the pressure of romance loomed large over Koga and Yugo, each with their own dilemmas.

On the evening before Valentine's Day, Koga found herself pacing in her room. She had practiced how to confess her feelings to Haruka countless times, but her nerves always got the best of her. What if things went wrong? What if she ruined their friendship?

Meanwhile, Yugo was struggling with the gift he had purchased for Izumi. He had settled on a handmade bracelet, but the thought of presenting it made him anxious. What if she didn't like it? What if she expected something grander?

The next day, the school was abuzz with Valentine's Day activities. Classrooms were filled with decorations, and students exchanged notes and candies. Koga arrived at school with her heart pounding, the box of chocolates hidden in her backpack.

During lunch, as the group gathered, Koga decided it was now or never. She pulled Haruka aside, her hands trembling slightly.

"Hey, can we talk for a minute?" Koga asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Sure! What's up?" Haruka replied, her cheerful demeanour instantly putting Koga at ease.

As they stepped away from the group, Koga took a deep breath. "So, I wanted to give you something for Valentine's Day."

Koga fumbled with the box, her heart racing. She opened it to reveal the chocolates, each one carefully chosen. "I, um, made these for you. I really... I really like you, Haruka."

Haruka's eyes widened in surprise. "Koga, I—"

Just then, Izumi called out from across the cafeteria. "Koga! We're all waiting for you!"

Koga's heart sank as Haruka's expression shifted to one of confusion. "I, um, let's talk later?" she said quickly, before returning to the group.

Koga felt a mix of disappointment and relief, but she knew she had to give it another shot later.

Later that day, Yugo met Izumi in the school courtyard. As they sat together on a bench, he felt a flutter of excitement. It was time to reveal the bracelet he had made for her.

"Hey, Izumi," he began, pulling out the small wrapped package from his backpack. "I wanted to give you something for Valentine's Day."

Izumi's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "You didn't have to! But I'm excited to see it!"

Yugo handed her the gift, his heart pounding as she unwrapped it. When she unveiled the bracelet, a mixture of surprise and joy lit up her face.

"Yugo! This is beautiful!" she exclaimed, slipping it onto her wrist. "Thank you so much! It means a lot to me."

"Really? You like it?" Yugo asked, relief flooding through him.

"Of course! It's perfect!" Izumi beamed, leaning in to give him a quick hug. "You always know how to make me feel special."

Yugo's heart swelled with happiness.

As the day wound down, Koga spotted Haruka chatting with some classmates. Determined, she approached her once more, her heart racing.

"Hey, Haruka!" Koga called, trying to sound casual.

"Hey, Koga! What's up?" Haruka replied, her smile warm but a hint of uncertainty lingering.

Koga took a deep breath. "I just wanted to finish what we started earlier. Can we talk?"

"Sure," Haruka nodded, leading Koga away from the crowd.

"I really like you," Koga said, her voice steady this time. "And I want to be more than friends."

Haruka's expression softened, but Koga could see the gears turning in her mind. "Koga, you're amazing, but I'm just not sure..."

Koga felt a pang of disappointment but nodded in understanding. "I get it. I just needed to be honest with you."

As they returned to the group, Koga felt a mix of emotions swirling inside her. She had taken a leap, and while it hadn't turned out the way she had hoped, she felt a sense of relief in being true to herself.

As the sun set, the group gathered for a Valentine's Day celebration, the air filled with laughter and joy. Yugo and Izumi exchanged glances, their bond growing deeper, while Koga found comfort in her friends' support.

Even with the ups and downs of the day, the spirit of friendship and love enveloped them all, reminding Koga that taking risks was part of growing up. And as the night unfolded, she felt hopeful that love—whether romantic or platonic—was always worth pursuing.
