The next morning, Jack had decided that experiments would help him learn more about Christmas and he needed to borrow some equipment from Dr. Finkelstein. Blair had decided to join him, and she hoped she would be able to see Sally while they were there.

Jack rang the doorbell, and they both waited patiently until Dr. Finkelstein shouted that the door was open. They entered the house, looking up to the top of the stairs where Dr. Finkelstein was holding an ice pack to his head.

"Hello?"

"Jack Skellington! Up here, my boy!" Dr. Finkelstein called.

"Doctor! I need to borrow some equipment." Jack stated, walking up the stairs with Blair trialing behind him.

"Is that so? Whatever for?" Dr. Finkelstein questioned.

"I'm conducting a series of experiments." Jack answered as they reached the top of the stairs.

"How perfectly marvellous. Curiosity killed the cat, you know."

"I know." Jack laughed.

"I'm going to go and find Sally." Blair whispered, brushing her hand against Jack's arm, who nodded and smiled in response.

Blair searched around the house before finding a door that had a heavy metal bar across it. She lifted the bar and opened the door, startling Sally who had her ear pressed against the door.

"I've been looking for you." Blair stated, helping Sally up off the floor.

"Experiments? What does he mean by experiments?" Sally asked.

Blair rolled her eyes, "He is obsessed with understanding this Christmas thing, it's all he's been talking about. I don't understand it but I have given up, he can fix it by himself when it all turns tragic."

Sally laughed, following Blair out of the room.

After spending some time with Sally, Blair returned home and ascended the stairs to find Jack working on his experiments.

"Hi, dear. How is it going?" Blair asked, placing a gentle kiss on his cheekbone.

"There's lots of interesting reactions, but I still don't understand what it means." Jack stated, watching as the beaker of green liquid glowed.

"Maybe you should take a break, come back to it later." Blair suggested, standing behind Jack and placing her hands on his shoulders.

Jack hummed, standing up and walking over to his chalkboard that he had wrote equations onto.

Blair sat down on his chair, watching as Jack scribbled more notes onto the chalkboard. He placed a bony hand on his head before scratching his chin in thought.

Blair and Jack turned to the window when something tapped against it, noticing a basket hanging in the air. Jack opened the window and glanced down to see Sally standing outside, holding the rope that was attached to the basket.

Jack waved, grabbing the basket and pulling it inside. He shifted through the basket, pulling out a bottle filled with green liquid. He pulled the cork out of the bottle, watching as a green projection of a butterfly flew out and disappeared into the air.
