This is the dress btw
As the excitement for Mishmash Midsummers built, Katherine and Kiara both prepared with a mix of nerves and anticipation. Katherine had already perfected her makeup masterpiece—shimmering eyeshadow and bold lipstick that made her feel confident—and slipped into her elegant blue satin dress, feeling the thrill of transformation. It hugged her figure perfectly, flowing just enough to make her feel like she was gliding rather than walking. Kiara had chosen a similar style, wearing a light shade of purple that complemented her warm tones and natural beauty. Together, they looked like a perfectly coordinated duo, exuding grace with a hint of rebellion that would surely turn heads.
Before they left, Kiara surprised Katherine with a final touch—a delicate flower crown. "I made these for us," she explained with a grin, carefully placing one atop Katherine's styled hair. The flowers were tiny but colorful, a mix of soft white and blush petals that added an ethereal quality to their looks. Katherine smiled, touched by the gesture, and gently placed the other flower crown on Kiara's head. They giggled, feeling like they were stepping into a fairytale, ready to face the crowd of kooks and the world of opulence that awaited them.
As they arrived at the country club, the scene was like something out of a dream. Soft, ambient lights glowed around the lushly decorated entrance, casting a warm glow over the crowd. They walked arm-in-arm, sharing jokes and playful nudges to keep each other's nerves at bay. The buzz of conversation and laughter filled the air as they entered the grand hall.
"Wow, this place is unreal," Katherine breathed, taking in the lavish decorations. Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, and tables were adorned with elegant centerpieces of flowers and candles. It was all so stunning, yet she felt a twinge of nerves about being there. "Do you think we're too underdressed?" she asked, glancing at Kiara.
Kiara shrugged, her confidence shining through. "We look amazing, Kat. Besides, we're here to have fun, not to fit in with the kooks." She winked and nudged Katherine playfully. "Let's go find a drink. That'll help us loosen up."
Almost immediately, they made a beeline for the bar, hoping a drink might ease any lingering tension. But as they reached the counter, they spotted a familiar face leaning against it, his usual mischievous grin in place.
"JJ?" Katherine asked, surprised. "What are you doing here?"
JJ smirked, giving her an exaggerated look up and down. "Whoa, Kat. Didn't expect to see you all decked out like this. And you too, Kie," he added, nodding at Kiara.
Kiara rolled her eyes, but a smile played on her lips. "Let's just say we're here to mix things up a bit."
JJ chuckled, raising his drink in a mock toast. "You two are definitely shaking up the kooks' paradise tonight. I almost didn't recognize you guys."
"Right?" Katherine laughed. "We're just here for a good time."
Their conversation flowed easily, filled with playful banter and jokes about the upscale crowd around them. JJ's carefree attitude brought a sense of comfort, making the posh atmosphere feel less intimidating. They shared their observations about the various groups, commenting on the extravagant outfits and pretentious behavior of some of the guests. Katherine felt a surge of rebellion—maybe they didn't belong there, but that didn't mean they couldn't enjoy themselves.
