heyyy hoes. I honestly hate this chapter but I hope you all like it. Sorry for taking so long but I hope you enjoy, happy Halloween!!

"Absolutely not." I stated, feeling my cheeks ache from how hard I've been smiling. Gia slept peacefully in my arms as we walked along the boardwalk. Even though I was starting to get weary from carrying a toddler in my arms, nobody warns you about how much you grow to love the tiny cuddles.

Meg laughed beside me, and then asked again.

"Why not! I do it with Gia every single year." She whined, giving me her best puppy dog eyes. Little does she know her eyes are my greatest weakness. I huffed, deadpanning her before speaking.

"Fine. We can go trick or treating tonight, under one condition." I said sternly to which her eyes lit up, eagerly awaiting my rule.

"We have to be something super cool." I said, to which she giggled and nodded.

"Cool like the Gilmore girls?" She proposed causing me to roll my eyes.

"Ew how old are you?" I smirked, watching as her mouth fell agape in shock. Unable to withhold my laughter, I started to giggle as she playfully pushed my shoulder.

"You're lame, Gilmore Girls is the shit." She shrugged, her eyes glimmered in the way that never failed to make my face warm. We were in a public park but I wish I could cup her face in my hands and place a kiss on her lips.

"Bor-ing, never seen it. I was thinking more like The Joker and Harley Quinn." I beamed. It's been years since I've gone trick or treating and one thing I always wished to do was a cute couples costume. But I've never had anybody to do it with. Meg thought for a moment before glancing down to a sleeping Gia.

"Or maybe.. I dunno. What are some cute couple costumes?" I trialed off in thought as I heard a chuckle from her. Turning to Meg, I saw her looking at me in amusement.

"What?" I asked, feeling my lips spreading high onto my face with the way she beamed at me.

"Cute couples costumes?" She repeated, which made me realize just how ahead of myself I was getting. Stammering slightly, I glanced away from her. We're not a couple. But what are we? What are we doing?

"Although Gia has no idea who they are, what about being the Powerpuff girls? I think that's easy to throw together." Meg said as we continued along the board walk, my arms starting to feel as though they'd fall off from carrying Gia for so long. As if reading my mind, Meg reached over to hold her. The toddler stirred slightly as she shifted from mine to her mothers arms.

I agreed to the costumes and smiled seeing Gia sleeping so peacefully.

Megan is such an amazing mother, and Gia is the prime example of proper parental treatment. Even though her father is a piece of shit, Meg does everything in her power to soften his coldness and absence. It might sound weird, but seeing how soft Meg is with Gia makes me miss my own mom, my own parents.

"What're you thinking about honey?" I heard Meg say from beside me and her gentle tone instantly caused me to look up. Her soft gaze was already lingering, which made my heart warm. Maybe it was time to let someone in, to tell my full truths.

"My parents." I said, smiling at her and then glancing back in front of us. We reached a pond with ducks quacking in it. Meg led me over to a bench and allowed Gia to spread out on her lap as we sat down.

"What were they like?" She asked, breaking the brief silence. I kept my eyes forward, looking at the ducks and baby chicks which followed. I thought back to my childhood as mental images of my parents popped into my mind.
