chapter 6: Betrayals spark.

Valtor's smile faded as he vanished from Alawis's sight. His thoughts seethed with resentment.

"How could Niel replace me so easily?"

Valtor's anger simmered, fueling his determination.

"I'll show him my true worth."

He navigated Hell's labyrinthine corridors, seeking a forbidden tome hidden in the depths of the underworld.

The tome, bound in black leather, whispered secrets of the Abaddon's Curse.

Valtor's eyes devoured the ancient text.

"This is it. This is my key to power."

As he read, Valtor's ambition grew.

"I'll destroy Niel, claim his throne, and rule Hell."

With newfound resolve, Valtor began his quest.

But first I should summon Lord Golax.

The next day, Alawis arrived at work, radiant in her black dress. She settled into her chair, and suddenly, a letter materialized before her.

"Hey Niel," the letter read, "it's your Uncle Drex from the other kingdom. If you remember that is. Son, I haven't seen you in a millennium. Why don't you come before I die? Please."

Below the letter, two options appeared: Accept or Decline.

Alawis's thumb hovered over the choices. Curiosity got the better of her, and she touched Accept.

The paper vanished.

The rest of Alawis's day passed uneventfully, with no rogue demon files or invitations to process. As the day drew to a close, she knocked on Niel's door.

The room was shrouded in darkness, but Alawis discerned Niel's silhouette.

"I'm done, sir. Is there anything you need?" she asked.

Niel's reply was curt. "No, you can go. I'll summon Valtira to take you to your room."

Within seconds, Valtira appeared, bowing deeply. "My Lord."

Niel's neutral voice commanded, "Take Alawis to her room."

Valtira bowed, took Alawis's hand, and vanished.

They reappeared in Alawis's room.

"Thank you, Valtira," Alawis said.

Valtira smiled. "Rest well, Alawis.

With that, Valtira disappeared, leaving Alawis to ponder the mysterious letter.
