Chapter 8: Beneath the Facade
Alawis placed her hand in Niel's, feeling a spark of electricity. His faint smile reassured her.
Together, they vanished into thin air.
When they reappeared, Alawis found herself before a grand gate, guarded by imposing figures. They bowed to Niel.
"Welcome, Lord Niel."
Niel walked inside, his confident stride drawing attention. Alawis followed closely.
A voice whispered in her mind.
"Prepare yourself, Alawis."
She glanced up at Niel, but his gaze seemed lost in thought, his eyes distant.
Inside, music filled the air, and people parted as Niel made his entrance. An eerie silence fell.
All eyes fixed on them.
Alawis felt nervous, her heart racing.
Niel's confidence was awe-inspiring.
A stunning woman with long, flowing hair and perfect features approached.
"Welcome, everyone," Lyrian said, her green eyes sparkling.
"Today's a special night."
Niel's aunt, Lyrian, radiated majesty.
Her warm smile.
Niel's gaze seemed distant, lifeless.
Alawis broke the spell.
"Your aunt is nice," she said.
Niel's warning.
"Don't be fooled," he whispered.
A serene voice interrupted.
"Defaming your own Aunt?" Lyrian asked.
Niel replied."I'm not your nephew."
Lyrian's smile faltered. "Who is she
Niel's flat tone."My secretary."
Lyrian's eyes sparkled."The one that accepted the invitation,
she smiled"Thank you, dear."
Alawis replied."You're welcome."
Lyrian teased."He's cruel."
Niel cut in."We need to leave."
Lyrian protested.Niel's gaze narrowed.
Alawis agreed.
Lyrian's unspoken words hung in the air.
Niel grabbed lyrian's hand.
They vanished.
Alawis waited, her heart still racing.
A demon approached.
"can I have a Dance?" he asked.
Alawis agreed.
Jazz and melancholy filled the air.
As they danced.
"Know Lord Niel well?" he asked.
Alawis replied."His secretary."
He nodded."Not a demon, right?"
Alawis shook her head.
He smiled."Lyrian is the only creature that can tests Niel's temper."
Intrigue sparked.She wanted to know more maybe this is her ticket to living this place.
Alawis wanted more.
