Chapter 5: Orientation

Alawis rose from bed, freshened up, and began brushing her hair when a knock interrupted her.

She opened the door to find a mysterious figure, Valtor sporting an enchanting smile and piercing black eyes.

"The Lord sent me to brief you on your new job," Valtor said.

Alawis nodded, and Valtor turned to lead her.

As they walked, Valtor asked, "Miss Alawis, are you familiar with vanishing?"

Alawis nodded.

Valtor's smile widened. "Thank evilness; this will be easy."

He offered his hand, and Alawis hesitantly took it, feeling its chill.

"Hold on," Valtor said.

They vanished, reappearing in a sleek, high-rise office.

Outside, the greyish landscape stretched, littered with burned particles and eerie howls.

Alawis whispered, "It looks dead."

Valtor smiled. "It's Hell; what did you expect?"

Their destination was Lord's office.

As they walked, Valtor briefed Alawis on her role:

"As Lord's secretary, you'll accept or decline invitations and mark powerful rogue demons."

"Rogue demons?" Alawis asked.

"Demons who lose rationale and rebel against Hell's rules," Valtor explained.

Alawis raised an eyebrow. "Is that it?"

Valtor chuckled. "My job is simple."

Alawis was shocked. "Am your substitute, and Your not mad

valtor in flat tone. "Lord's command is absolute."

Alawis gasped. "Is he that powerful.

Valtor's smile hinted at secrets. "Lord is a Dark Star Realm demon, second-in-command to Lucifer."

"Dark Star Realm demons can face Lucifer head-on if they shatter their Dark star and Merged with it," Valtor whispered.

They arrived at Lord's chambers.

Valtor pushed open the elegant door, adorned with mystical drawings.

Inside, Lord sat, his darkness-blended hair and emotionless face commanding awe.

"Lord, she's here," Valtor announced.

Lord's gaze shifted to Alawis, who stumbled in her attempt to bow.

"Stop; that's not bowing," Lord said, amused.

Alawis's face flushed.

Lord's expression returned to neutral. "You understand your duties?"

"Yes, sir," Alawis replied.

"Leave," Lord commanded.

After closing the door, Alawis examined her new workspace.

Valtor reappeared with a smile. "See you around, Miss Alawis."

"Files and letters are sent via vanishing," he added before disappearing.

Alawis's eyes widened. "Wait, what?"
