Chapter31: Lost Don't Find

"Happy 24th birthday Alex!" My co workers had screamed. Briana was holding a vanilla cake with my name printed on it.

"Thanks, B." I smiled warmly. "Thank you all!"

They cheered and greeted me some more. Levi, my boss/friend , gave me a small box. He told me to  open it so I did. It was a silver necklace with a rose pendant. It has a red gem in the middle.

"Levi, you don't have to." I was speechless. The stone looked expensive, especially when you looked at it clearly

"You deserved it. And I wanted to." He reached me for tight hug.

Earl, his husband, gave me a box too. I eyed them suspiciously they just smiled coyly. I opened the green box and I'm not surprised when I saw a pair of silver earrings with tiny red stones all over. I felt overwhelmed. This is too much

"Earl! Levi! This is too much. I can't accept this."

"I'll get your ass fired if you didn't accept that." It was Earl who said it

"Not my boss."

"Well, I can pull a few strings to the big guy," he wiggled his brows

"Few blows" Levi corrected and I giggled

"Babe, not here!" Earl blushed

"Thanks you guys." I was squeezed by two masculine men

"Air..... need... breath..."

"oopsie daisy" Early chuckled "excuse me, I'll go get a drink"

"Excuse me too, that prick will get his ass drunk," his husband muttered following him

I nodded. I watched my co workers mingled with each other. I already celebrated my birthday last week, in advanced. Tulip Garden is a home for the aged people in California. Para sa mga wala nang pamilya, namatayan, or kung iniwan. You can find all kinds of old people here. I was surprised to have another party at the exact day of my birth.

Though the salary is not that big, it's enough for my needs. Besides I have plenty of money to sustain a lifetime of needs and wants. Plus the money I get working here. After the fall of Moms business,  it was said to her will that the house goes to me and Hunter. The business was given to me, since Matthew's business will be given to Hunter. I never called or treated Matthew a father anymore. Since that day. Since I was too young to handle a big company, Hunter guided me for a few months. Then once na realize niya na hopeless ako, or yung company ata mismo, we decided na its best na ipagbili na sa ibang mas malaking company. 500 thousand dollars was more than enough. Dinagdagan ng konti ng buyer since friend naman ni Mom ung bumili. The news about Mom and Dad went in some business magazines. They found out what kind of moron my Dad is. So the public hated him now. But I doubt they remember a thing. Its been 6 years. A lot has happened.

As I promised Mom, I forced myself to suck it up and move on with my life. I cried non stop for weeks and I'm thankful that I had my friends by my side handing tissues. I graduated high school and college for Mom. I was so happy and it's safe to say that Mom's probably happy for me too. But crying won't bring her back.

I travel a lot, soul searching. I guess you could say that. I just wanna get lost in the world. See places, meet new people. Go to museums. Paint. And just... live. I'm tired being sad. I'm tired doing nothing. I'm tired of complaining why people leave me. And so I get my sorry ass up and start making myself happy because I couldn't let myself depend on other people to make me happy. It'll hurt like hell when they leave you.

As for now, I decided to settle down here. Its fun to interact with older people even if they have Alzheimer's disease.

As for my friends, well, they have a life now. Like family and such. We all went to the same UNI and graduated together. But they all have plans after college. Rhea and Chase was planning a wedding this winter, Maybe. Chris and Cory is currently in Manchester right now raising triplets. I wonder if one of the baby knows the the two of them aren't planned out. But not everyone had their happy ending, Kadence was traveling the world. Maybe soul searching too.
