Chapter 8: Friends or Enemies?

(Y/N)'s POV:

It was silent. The two hedgehogs looked at each other, giving each other side eyes. Shadow looked intense, and all that emotion that we had in our conversation was gone. Shadow got really serious, and so did the other hedgehog. Well, not really. The blue hedgehog was smiling the whole time. The blue hedgehog looked exactly like Shadow, without the red and black colors and stuff. They were just.... blue?

"What? Is there something I'm interrupting?" The blue hedgehog grinned and put his thumb up at me. He walked over to me and grabbed my hand with his glove, and kissed it. I blushed a bit and quickly dismissed his gesture, but he smiled at me aggressively.

"No. Absolutely NOTHING, Faker." Shadow groaned, and punched the blue hedgehog right in the face. The hedgehog quickly got up from the attack and put his thumbs up again, walking over to me.

"Oh.. forgot to introduce myself!" The blue hedgehog grabbed my hands and smiled at me,"-My name is Sonic! Sonic the hedgehog!" The blue hedgehog, or preferably Sonic grinned and scratched his head, shook my hand and then gestured to Shadow to shake his hand, but all he did was cross his arms and walk away.

I giggled and said, "So.. what's all this talk about remembering stuff?" I shrugged and walked over to the two hedgehogs, rolling my eyes. 

"It's... a long story. We'll.. figure something out." Shadow glanced at me, and quickly sighed, looking away. 

"Is there something... going on here?" Sonic said nonchalantly, looking at Shadow's sudden change in demeanor. I looked over at him, but it looked like Shadow was contemplating something... important? Why should I care? Maria?

Sonic smiled again, grinning at us. "Well.. anyway... what's your name, princess? I mean-" I smiled at him back, "It's (Y/N). You can... chillax with the formalities. But, how did you know I was a princess?". 

Sonic grinned again, "Shadow told me. Before he got to see you, Shadow and I met each other." He looked up and continued, "-And, we were using Chaos Control to determine where you were. It was really difficult, cause you guys haven't seen each other in A LOT of years and-"

Shadow nudged Sonic aggressively with his elbow, growling at him. "I think that's ENOUGH, Sonic. We're done here." Sonic walked over to me, and ignored Shadow's attempt to stop his own informative yapping.

"So... what's chaos control?" I shrugged and smiled at Sonic. "So basically... when you use a chaos emerald, you can teleport with it. Just to make it less complicated!" He sighed, "-I... don't actually know how to use Chaos Control yet. But, I'll get the hang of it!" The blue hedgehog put his thumbs up again and grinned at me, and I grinned right back at him. His happy demeanor was irresistible, and his smile was.. contagious.

"So.. are you guys like.. friends or something?" I smiled and looked at the two, but they both looked away from each other. 

"We are nothing... Anything but friends." Shadow growled and sat down on the couch. I giggled at his outburst and quickly composed myself, crossing my arms.

"Oh, really? We are the BEST of friends!" Sonic smiled, sitting next to Shadow and putting a hand on his shoulder. Shadow quickly dismissed his gesture and got up from his seat, growling back at him.

"Anyway... You guys, we have to leave! Amy, Tails, Knuckles, Rouge, Cream... The whole gang! We need to hurry. We found lots of the chaos emeralds, but we only have one more left!" Sonic sighed and looked at us.

"Really! You guys already found all of them? Where's the final chaos emerald? And who is 'the whole gang'?" I grinned and went next to Sonic, putting a hand on his shoulder.

Sonic laughed, "You'll meet them soon! Now, come on! We have to go, like.... NOW! The final chaos emerald was spotted somewhere at this cave. But... bad news..."

"What is it?"

"Eggman is also trying to get the chaos emerald for himself to power up his lab again. If we don't get the final one... we won't be able to put a stop to Egghead's plans!" Sonic crossed his arms, and took me and Shadow's hand.

"It won't be so easy, Sonic. Eggman takes his work very seriously, and we can't just expect him to attack like he normally does. We've got to stop it, and get it before he does." Shadow took my hand, glanced at me, and looked away.

"Then, let's stop it! Together! Now, where are we going?"

"To... hedgehog village!"

"Hedgehog... what?"
