| Day 156 out of 3652 | Days left until Chris' hearing: 40 |
Now that I'd tackled most of my main priorities, it was time to focus on another one: revenge. If Summer and Quinn thought I'd forgotten about them, they were dead wrong. They were the reason our lives had flipped upside down, and I swore they'd get everything they deserved—tenfold.
Quinn needed to go. Chris had already dealt with Dylan, but if we're being honest, Quinn was the mastermind pulling all the strings. As head of the Irish Mob, Quinn thought he was untouchable, but that was his biggest mistake. This wasn't just about payback; it was about eliminating a threat to us all. But he was the least of my worries.
The true threat was Summer. That manipulative snake had slithered her way into our lives, pretending to be Melanie's friend, just to gather intel on our operation. From the start, I knew something was off, but her betrayal cut deeper than I expected. My research showed her little "loyalty" to Quinn earned her a nice promotion after she fed him info that led to my husband's incarceration. I couldn't let any loose ends hang by the time Chris came home, especially not Summer.
I hated how she wrapped herself in fake smiles and sweet words, only to drive a knife into our backs. Now, she was playing a dangerous game, one I planned to end with her six feet under.
Quinn was itching to control these streets, even though he knew it was impossible with us in the picture. And Summer? She was clearly angling for another front-page article. They were both in it for themselves, feeding off each other's ambitions.
I'd hired a private investigator to keep tabs on their whereabouts, someone reliable enough to send regular updates and photos of any meetings, along with intel on their connections and routines. I needed to know their every move. So far, it seemed these two were still meeting regularly, which could only mean they were still looking into us. However, my main focus was Summer.
Now, I was sitting in the corner of a dimly lit café while Krystal was in her therapy session. I sat far enough in the back to give us the privacy we'd need for this meeting. I'd only ever spoken to this PI over the phone; Tina had referred her, vouching for her as a trusted contact. We have had countless calls but she insisted we meet in person this time, saying she had something important to share.
I took a sip of my chai tea, scanning the café for any sign of her. Finally, a woman stepped in and made her way over, a white woman with sharp blue eyes and a confident stride.
She extended her hand, "Claire, you must be Amarie?" She smiled at me.
I shake her hand, "Yes, nice to meet you." I give her a small smile back as she takes a seat in front of me.
"Just so you know, I work closely with Ramon which means I don't ask questions about what these investigations are for. I do what I'm paid for, and I don't pry," She said, her tone professional yet firm.
