the day was off to a perfect start for riwoo and woonhak. as they strolled down the school hallway between classes, fingers intertwined, the world felt like theirs. riwoo was opening up more each day, initiating little moments—holding woonhak's hand, leaning against him in quiet spaces, surprising him with smiles that felt like secrets. it made woonhak's heart swell every time; he could tell riwoo was beginning to trust their bond, and it meant the world.

as they rounded a corner, however, a teacher suddenly stopped in his tracks, staring at their hands.

"excuse me!" he barked, his voice sharp. the hallway felt like it had instantly shrunk as riwoo and woonhak looked up, startled.

the teacher's gaze was piercing as he took a step closer, eyeing them with a disapproving frown.

"what do you think you're doing, walking around here holding hands? this is a school, not... some kind of playground!" he spat the words, disgust apparent on his face.

woonhak felt riwoo's hand tense in his, but he held on, squeezing his hand reassuringly, feeling the fear radiate from him.

"we're just walking, sir," woonhak said as calmly as he could, though his heart was pounding.

the teacher scoffed.

"don't play innocent with me. you boys—holding hands in the hallway like that... disgusting." his voice was loud, and several students nearby turned to watch.

"you think that's appropriate? two boys acting like this in public?"

woonhak's protective instincts flared up as he saw the frightened look in riwoo's eyes. he felt a surge of anger as the teacher's words grew crueler.

"excuse me, sir, but this is none of your business," he shot back, unable to keep the edge out of his voice.

the teacher's face turned an even darker shade of red.

"none of my business? you're breaking the standards of this school! we don't allow that sort of... behavior here. maybe you need to be taught some respect!" he raised his voice even more, drawing a small crowd. riwoo flinched, taking a step back, hiding behind woonhak, fear plain on his face.
