I watched Hana look at Taehyung with huge, loving eyes. Her hair was long and straight, black as the night, and her skin was everything that I wanted. She wore a white tank top with a cardigan over it. The jeans she was wearing fit her frame perfectly. Yuki wasn't lying. She was perfect.
"Taehyung!" Hana squealed, running up to Taehyung, throwing her arms around him and hugging him closely.
I had this weird face on. I couldn't explain my appearance, but my face was smushed. I leaned back, trying not to get hit in the face. Hana pulled away, still with her arms around his neck. I thought they were cousins. Cousins don't do this...
"You've become more handsome, Taehyung," She whispered, her eyes never leaving his.
And they, indeed, don't say that. What is going on?
"You, too. You've become prettier as well," Taehyung said.
What the fuck is this?
-
"Thank you for doing this for me today! I'm so happy that nobody has changed!" Hana exclaimed, her wide grin radiating warmth and joy. The flickering candlelight on the dinner table reflected in her eyes, making them sparkle even more.
"Let's raise our glasses in celebration of Hana's safe arrival and her joining our family, even if just for a little while! Cheers!" someone proposed, their voice filled with enthusiasm.
I couldn't help but murmur under my breath, "She isn't already part of it?" as our glasses clinked together, the sound ringing in the air. The table before us was laden with an extravagant feast that had taken the whole day to prepare, and now, under the cloak of nighttime, it was finally time to enjoy it.
As I observed Taehyung and Hana laughing and chatting animatedly, an odd sensation stirred within me. Their chemistry seemed off; the way Hana interacted with Taehyung felt less like the bond of cousins and more like the flirtatious energy of potential crushes. What was going on?
Hana made her way around the table, clinking her glass with each member of Taehyung's family. When she approached me, I forced a smile, lifting my drink to clink with hers before taking a generous swig. I could sense the looming need for more alcohol if I were to navigate this gathering successfully.
"It's so nice to finally meet you, Y/n," Hana said cheerfully, her voice carrying a melodic lilt.
I replied, "Nice to meet you too," while my nerves prompted me to take another eager sip of my drink.
"So, you're headed to school tomorrow, right?" Bon asked as he piled food onto his plate, barely looking up.
"Yeah, I'm going to Whimoon High School," Hana giggled, her excitement palpable.
"Whimoon... Whimoon High School? The one famous for its rigorous academic standards?" I exclaimed, my disbelief clear. It was hard to believe that someone like Hana could gain admission to such a prestigious institution.
"Yeah! It's pretty much in my neighborhood," she replied with a nonchalant shrug, as if attending a top-notch school was as simple as walking to the corner store.
"That's incredible! I heard you scored full marks on the transfer admission test!" Minji added, her enthusiasm infectious.
"Full marks?" My voice shot up an octave, surprise etched on my features as I tilted my head in disbelief.
"Y/n should really take notes from Hana," Yuki interjected with a smirk, a hint of condescension in his tone.
I shot him a glare, exerting immense self-control to keep my mouth shut.
