In front of the door Aika was wearing a red hoodie and something like a white skirt above her knees and carrying worn sandals. A black camera bag was slung over her shoulder, "Kenta-san, if you still want to sleep it's okay, I'll go alone," the man rubbed his eyes and shook his head and took his red haori, "Come on," because of the young woman's words last night Kenta couldn't look her in the eye directly.
When they left the house, Kenta realized that every morning the first person he saw was none other than Aika. His face felt hot, even though they had lived together for almost half a year. The feeling of familiarity faded because of his thoughts last night. He immediately looked away and let his hair down so that Aika couldn't see his face and ears blushing.
They had reached the end of the back garden, there was an old iron door. Aika took out the key for the padlock on the door and they walked to the back area of the residential area. At dawn there were already people starting their day. The young woman said that the settlement was mostly inhabited by fishermen or factory workers who processed seafood.
After the houses were rarely seen, the asphalt road changed to a stone path. In front of them were dense trees, similar to a city forest. Aika stopped for a moment to reach into her hoodie pocket that could be filled with anything.
"It's a bit dark here, I always bring a flashlight when I pass by here, because usually I come home when the sun sets and get scolded by grandma," the road in front of them became bright when Aika turned on the flashlight.
Entering the area, she told several corners that were silent witnesses to his childhood. From the story of her being lost while playing hide and seek, there was a caterpillar that fell on her hand while picking flowers, which made him afraid until now. Even with other children trying to become detectives, thinking that finding a fugitive turned out to be an innocent man.
However, the main story is that this area is one of the places her grandmother often takes her to. She even memorized it because she was often invited to explore with her and Tomoe. Aika took a long branch and used it as a toy.
The reason Aika is close to her grandmother is also because of Aika's decision to settle in Japan since she was little. Moreover, her older siblings went to school abroad until they graduated from junior high school and only went to Izu during winter break.
"So every summer, I was the only one who always accompanied grandma on her walks, sometimes with Tomo-nee when she had nothing to do in town, until finally she got sick and couldn't walk, so it was just me and Tomo-nee, until the last three years... I was always alone," her words seemed to hang.
Aika turned her gaze the same as last night. Kenta didn't ask any more. If Aika continued to say what she was thinking, his heart would explode.
The sky was turning from pitch black to dark blue with the moon still up above. Kenta knew they had reached the main road to the fish market. There were already many trucks passing by carrying fish from the market to the city. Aika said they would hitch a ride on one of the trucks.
Not long after, Ebihara's truck stopped. The truck driver asked why they were on the side of the road. After Aika told them their destination, the truck driver immediately invited them to get on. The driver was not much older than Dai. It turned out that he was a childhood friend of Aika's mother.
"I used to take Tomoko-chan and Tomoe-chan to the beach, your aunt had just started school at that time, they asked to ride on my motorbike. Your grandmother, Tamaki-san, immediately panicked because they didn't say goodbye."
