Kane right beside me, "You don’t talk much do you?" I say, He nods no. "The only reason I acted that way towards Jack, I don’t like guys that think their hot shit. You respect me," He looks at me, "And I'll respect you." He smiles and we walk on. I jump in the work truck and Kane jumps on the back with the hay, we pull in the barn and Keith is feeding Moonshine. "Be gentle, he's old." I say to Keith. "Alright Kane, this is how it works here, you take a bail, put it on the rack, I'll be up there and I'll pull it up. You got your gloves?" He nods and pulls them out of his pocket. I grab mine and put mine on. "Ma'am, I gotta feed Shadow." I go over there, "Alright, Kane you watch too." Kane walks over to the stall. "Yall two stay behind the gate, alright? This aint bullshit, you can get real hurt real fast with him."
I take the feed from Keith and I open the gate, "Shadow baby, It's me Leigh-ann. Shh it's alright bud." I touch his side and he turns to me, as I walk around he nudges me. "That's my good boy." I kiss his nose and he nudges me. I laugh and walk out. "That was amazing." Kane says "I know. That's my boy. Alright, I gotta go see if they've screwed it up yet, Keith you take my spot." He takes his gloves out and climbs up top. "I'll be back soon yall." They nod.
I walk on to the cows pin. When I walk up, Jack jumps up and starts working. "Jack, I already don’t like you. So don’t make it any worse." He back. "Got the eggs?" I ask, "Charlie's got em, he's taking them over to the house now." I nod he walks over to me, when I go to the opening of the cow pin. I push him up against the gate. "You know, you’re not that bad looking," I say flirting with him; I unlock the gate while his eyes are on me. The cows run out one by one. "You best pay attention boy. You aint gonna last much longer if Chief finds out!" "You tricked me!" I get into his face. "First rule. Don’t you dare back talk me; I will knock you into next week boy. Go get the damn cows. NOW!"
He runs after them. Charlie is killing himself laughing. "The old flirting cow trick, gets em every time ey duke?" "You bet Charlie, you bet." I walk back to the barn, and they are just finishing up the hay. When Jack gets all the cows back, Charlie feeds them. "I'll show that bitch who's boss. You wait and see." Jack says to Charlie, without a word he knows what's going to happen.
After their done they come to the barn. There I stand with Kane and Keith waiting on them. "Alright," I walk over to the closet, "Take a pitch fork and gloves. Clean out the stalls." They all go one after the other. I take Moonshine and Georgia out to the pastures. Then firecracker.. "All of you stand back. I mean it." they all step back, except Jack, he thinks he's gonna show me up. I open the gate and softly talk to Shadow, letting him know it's me. I put his bridle on him and jump, riding him bare back. "Alright babe, let's show him." He neighs back. He knows who I'm talking about.
We run out and stop right in from of them, I'm towering over Jack and Shadow looks at him with those harsh eyes, Jack jumps back when we see us. "I told you." And we kick it out of the barn. I take the bridle off, Shadow nudges me and I go back to the barn. "Well, what y’all standing around for." I take a seat on the four-wheeler and watch them work. I hear Dad's truck in the drive way. 'Yay! Harry's here!' I think smiling. I can hear Harry's footsteps. Just as Jack walks over to me. "Ya know, when I see something I like, I go after it." He wraps his arm around my waist holding me tightly. I'm trying to get away but I can't his grip is too tight.
"Hey! Who do you think you are?" Harry yells running over to me. "Ooo we got a brit here. Whatchu doin here preppy?" Harry doesn’t say a word. "Don’t you call him that." Jack pushes me over. "Get out of this Leigh-Ann" Harry punches him in the face. "You don’t put your hands on her." He says as blood runs down Jack's face. He hits Harry back. "Why you even here?" Jack says back. "You don’t out your hands on him. Yea he's British, but he's also my fiancé." I say slapping Jack.
Harry puts his arm around me and kisses me intensely. "You can finish your work and report to Chief's house. Don’t think Chiefs gonna like you touching his daughter like that." Everyone stops. Charlie steps up. "Boy you don’t dare touch Leigh like that. I'll knock the shit out of you. She's my little cousin; you answer to me next time punk." Charlie says grabbing his shirt. Blood is pouring out of Jacks nose now. "Charlie. You in charge the rest of the day." I hug him and leave with Harry. I take him to the house. We pass daddy on the way there. "What's going on?" "Go to the barn. Ask Charlie." Dad takes off running.
I get Harry to the house and get his ice for his eye. A little bruising but nothing too bad. I kiss Harry and then his eye. We lay on the couch together. I make sandwiches for the guys. I pour the drinks and walk outside to the barn. Harry stays home. I'm going to heat him some soup up when I get back. I take the food out there.
Walking in I see daddy standing over Jack, Charlie next to him and Keith and Kane are outside, I give them their lunch and take them back to daddy's porch to rest. I leave the food there. I run back to the barn, Charlie sees me and motions me over. "Boy, you in deep shit." I hear daddy say. "I would beat the snot out of you but, looks like Harry already did. Go get clean and eat. Finish your day here. We'll talk after you finish your chores." Jack nods and jumps up. He walks past me. "Bitch" He whispers. I follow behind him; Harry, Kane and Keith are on the porch. I step in front of jack. "I'll show you bitch." I punch him right in the eye. It swells up. He runs to the bathroom and cleans up.
I walk up on the porch and kiss Harry. I sit on Harry's lap and talk to everyone else. Dad walks up, "Boys, y’all are free for the day. Jack's taking all the chores for this evening. Be back early in the morning." They all thank us and leave. Jack walks back out. "Boy, you'll work all the chores on the farm for the rest of the day. And I'll be watching you all day instead." Dad says. Jack sighs and leaves. Daddy frees us; he's going to the diner to eat tonight. Harry and I go on home and video chat with the guys.
"Whoa, Harry what happened to your face?" Niall asks. "Got into a fight with a guy at her farm. He put his hands on her." He kisses my forehead. "How's the other guy look Leigh?" Zayn asks. "Well Harry busted his nose. Then he called me a Bitch and I punched him, busting his eye." Everyone freaks out. "Look who I've got!" I hear Louis yell. He hold little Emmett up to the camera. He hears mine and Harry's voices and he starts patting the camera.
We get off the video chat with them. I'm taking Harry somewhere tonight. We go to the diner to eat. When we walk in, I hear a familiar voice. "Leigh Ann Rae, is that you?" I turn around "Betty!!" I hug her. "Who is that tall yummy boy?" She whispers in my ear. "Betty this is Harry, my boyfriend. He's from England." "Mmm, I'm Betty, I watched Leigh when she was little." "It's very nice to meet you ma'am." Harry says back.
We sit down and Betty serves us. After we order, she turns on the music and winks at me. "Leigh," Harry says standing up. "May I have this dance?" I take his hand and walk over there with him. I put my arms around his neck and he puts his round my waist. "Thank you for today Harry." "For what? All I did was stick up for my beautiful girl." I kiss him softly. Betty is standing behind the counter watching us. We flirt and laugh while dancing, after the song Daddy walks in.
Harry puts his arm around me and we walk over there to him. We all eat and Harry tells me that he wants to go back to the barn. We go back home with daddy and Harry walks me over there. When we walk in, Shadow is out of his stall. I yell at Harry to get back. He runs up to the top of the barn. "Shadow, baby, it's Leigh. You’re alright honey. I got you." I say touching his neck. He calms down and pushes his head on mine. I smile when he nudges me. I put him outside in the pin to let him run around and I climb up stairs with Harry.
"Leigh, that's amazing how you do that." I smile. "I found Shadow when his mother left him. Wild thing. I brought him here and worked with him every day. He finally started to trust me. I broke him; he only got use to dad because when I wasn’t here, he would feed him." Harry kisses me. "You’re simply amazing." I smile "Harry stop talking about you." He chuckles and kisses me again, laying me down,
"Um we really shouldn’t do anything up here." "Why?" "There are snakes and mice up here." I say, Harry jumps up and leaves. I follow behind him. "Let's go home." We head on home and go to bed. "How's your eye baby?" I ask him. "It's alright." I kiss it gently and he smiles. "I'd take every pain in the world as long as I know you'll be here to take care of me." I smile and kiss his nose.
