I wake up and kiss him. "Good morning my prince charming." I say kissing his cheek. "Good morning my princess." I giggle at him saying this. We go to the farm, for our last day. We go to the barn to the interns and Charlie. "Good morning miss." I hear Keith say. "Mornin Keith, Kane." They smile and nod. Harry waves and they nod back. Jack is standing in the corner, not looking at us. "So it’s your last day here huh?" Charlie asks "Yea, Moving to London. But I'll be back soon. We're taking the horses out for one last ride." He stands up; him and Harry get the saddles.
"Shadow baby, this is our last ride for a while." He puts his head down; I put his bridle on and walk him out. The guys back up so he doesn't go crazy on them. I put the saddle on and Harry decided to take Georgia back out. We walk out with them. I hop on Shadow and he takes off, past daddy's house and I just let him go. I know where he's taking me. I yell at Harry to follow. He does and tries to keep up.
We go down the driveway then take a right onto a hidden path. "You’re such a sappy boy." I laugh at Shadow, and I hear Harry behind us. "Where are we going?" "I don’t know. Shadow's taking us." We hit a grassy area, with maple trees on both sides, "Leigh. Why haven’t you brought me here before?" "Honestly, I forgot it was here." We slowly ride on through the arch way made by the trees. We hit a river way and we stop. Letting them rest. We relax in the grass and talk. "God, I'm going to miss this place." I say lying down. Harry lies down beside me and says "Me too." We lay there in silence for a while, listening to the creek run and the animals in the area. "Is it always this peaceful here?" Harry asks, rolling on his side, facing me. "Always." I say looking at him. He brushes the hair out of my eyes and kisses me softly.
"I can’t wait." I hear him whisper, I give him a confused look. "You be able to show you off to the world." I give a half smile. "What’s wrong?" "I'm just nervous. I hope everyone thinks I'm pretty enough to be with someone as amazing as you.” He softly places him nose on mine. "You are beautiful." He whispers. I turn my head and kiss him. I put my hands around his neck while in the kiss. His hand rests on my waist. I realize we have to get back now. I sigh and stand up. I grab Shadow but he won’t budge. "Come on boy. We gotta get home." I know he realizes that I'm leaving after this, and he doesn't want me to go. I pull on his reins and he finally gives in. I hop on his back and we start to go back. Shadow refuses to walk fast, he's trying to make this last longer. I lean down to his ear and whisper. "When we get home, how's about we show all these guys up with a barrel race?" He neighs loudly and takes off running.
I make him stop so we all can make this moment last. When we get back to the house, I tell Harry to go on to the barn and put Georgia up, I've got a surprise for him. I run in daddy's house and let him know I'm about to race. He jumps up and goes to the pin to put the barrels up. I ride Shadow to the barn, "Hey Charlie, I'm gonna race Shadow if you wanna come out there." I say and turn Shadow around to leave. I hear Charlie say "Oh, y’all boys are gonna wanna see this." Then Harry asks "What’s she talking about?" By then I'm already at the pin. Daddy's got the barrels up and the timer.
We go to the entrance spot and stand there. I wait for all the guys to be there, even Jack. "You ever seen a barrel race boy?" Daddy asks Harry. "No sir." Harry response trying to figure out what's going on. "You gonna wanna watch my baby girl." Dad says. "You ready Duke?!" Dad yells as he gets the timer ready. "You ready boy?" I whisper to Shadow he shakes his head and I yell. "Yea!" We stand there for about three more seconds; Shadow hears the buzzer and takes off. One barrel, two barrels, last one, "Kick it boy!" I yell to shadow and he books it out of the pin. I turn, "10.2!" Daddy yells. "Good job buddy." I say kissing Shadows neck. I jump off and go over to the guys. Shadow's getting a drink and I know he aint gonna run off.
"Ma'am that was mighty impressive." Keith says. "Not bad for a girl." Charlie says picking on me, I punch his arm. "Harry. What'd you think?" "Leigh that was amazing!" I smile and kiss his cheek.
I realize I have to out Shadow up and tell everyone goodbye. Sadness falls over me, I'm really leaving home. Of course I'll be back soon, but goodbyes are hard. I pull on Shadow's reins and walk with him to his pin. "Alright boy, Leigh's gotta leave now. I'll be back soon alright? You be a good boy for Chief, you hear me?" He nods. "I love you Shadow." I hug his neck and he rests his head on my shoulder. I brush him down. Kiss his nose, and shut the pin, one tear falls. I love that horse so much. I hate to leave him. I got to the other horses, kiss their noses and leave. Just as I'm walking out Shadow knocks at the door, I turn and run back to him. He places his head on mine, nudges me, and then turns around. When Shadow nudges me that's his way of kissing me.
I turn to Harry behind me. "Wow, he really loves you." I nod looking back. My heart is slowly breaking because I know he's sad that I won’t be here. Harry hugs me and we walk out of the barn. I tell the interns bye, Harry shakes their hands and I hug them. When we see Jack, I nod as does Harry and then we leave. "Well, this is goodbye aint it little one?" Charlie says. I wrap my arms around him. "You keep them in their places alright?" He laughs at me. "Love you Leigh." He says. "I love you too Charlie" He puts me down and walks over to Harry. "You’re a good guy, I'm glad I can trust you with her. But if you ever, EVER, hurt her. I'll be at your doorstep." Charlie says, he sticks his arm out and Harry takes it, they shake hands and Harry says. "I promise, I love her too much to hurt her." Charlie smiles and then leaves.
We walk into Daddy's house. I hug daddy "I'm gonna miss you Duke." "I'm gonna miss you too daddy." We stand there for a while. "Promise me you'll take care of yourself?" "I promise Leigh. I love you baby girl." "I love you too daddy." He puts me down and I hold back tears, I don’t want dad to see me cry. "Harry, that's my little girl, you take good care of her. I've got a 270 over there. You keep that in mind." Harry shakes his head, "I'll take great care of her. Sir, I love your daughter." Dad smiles and shakes his hand. "She's pretty amazing." Harry shakes his head and agrees. I hug daddy one last time and we leave.
I get in my truck and drive it to the apartment. We load our luggage in there and I walk through one last time. I lock the door and get in the truck. Driving I can’t help but to cry. "Leigh, are you alright?" I nod, wiping my tears away. Harry scoots over to the middle. He wipes my tears for me. "I mean I'm happy to be going back to London to our house and Emmett and all the guys. But..." "But it's still home here." He says I nod back. We get to the airport and I hide my keys. Charlie is coming to get it later.
We go in, get our tickets and put our luggage up. We go on the plane and I smile, I love this place. But where ever Harry is, is where I'm happiest. I fall asleep once we've taken off. Harry wakes me up when we land. "Leigh baby, wake up. We're home." I open my eyes to his breathtaking face. Those green eyes look like emeralds, his curl perfectly in curls, that smile that makes me weak. His lips so perfectly kissable. I kiss him, "Home." I whisper we get off the plane and get all of our bags.
