I wake up to a very obnoxious beeping sound. I try open my eyes but automatically close them again. The light was blinding. Once I finally get used to the light I look around. I try to sit up but immediately regret it. My head started spinning. Then I realize where I am. I'm in a hospital. Then I remember what happened. The barn. The fire. Niki. All of it. I finally get myself propped up when a doctor walks in.
"Hello miss Jo, how are you today?"
"I'm fine, considering I'm in a hospital," Jo said to him.
"Well that's good to hear."
I don't know what's worse, the fact I'm in a hospital or the doctor completely ignored my sarcasm. All I wanted to do was see Teddy. He always knows how to cheer me up.
"Can I see Teddy please?", I ask the doctor.
"Oh Theodore? Yes, you may see him now. He has been asking to see you. He hasn't left since you got here."
The doctor (who's name i still did not know) left to get Teddy. All of a sudden I felt nervous. What if he was mad at me? What if he never talks to me again? Wait, what am I thinking he is my cousin (sort of) and best friend. That would never happen. Right? I heard the click from the door and expected to see Teddy but who came in the door wasn't Teddy. Someone who I never expected to see.... my mom.
