Y/n’s POV:

The day we were old enough to walk, we were told countless stories about our rivals and certified enemies: the vampires.

Vampires are ruthless.

Vampires are selfish.

Vampires are blood-sucking fiends.

Vampires are bad.

These phrases have been indoctrinated in our brains for years, and we had no choice but to believe them. That was all we ever heard from our pack leaders, our friends, our families…

No one had anything good to say about vampires.

And if I'm being completely honest, I don't blame them– not one bit.

“Y/n, Alpha wishes to see you,” a small voice says, interrupting me from my recreational journaling. My friend, Catalina, lightly tugs on my shirt sleeve, staring at me sweetly. She's like a sister to me.

I give her a soft smile and ruffle her beautiful, red hair, tucking the journal into my bookbag. “Thank you for telling me. I'll go see him right away.”

I start to walk away, giving Catalina’s hand a quick and gentle squeeze as I do. The moment I'm a good distance away, Catalina cups her mouth in her hands and calls out to me, “Good luck! I hear he has an important assignment for you.”

I give a light chuckle and turn around, walking backwards. “Thank you, Lina!”

Our pack is small but comfortable. I live amongst several different rogues here– some thieves and bandits, others just looking for a place to call home. I fall into the latter category. I was orphaned at a young age after an incident regarding a group of vampires, to which I will never forgive them for.

“Forgive and forget” is what most people say, but cases like these make me forget that it's an option to begin with.

“Oh, that's good!” I mutter to myself, flipping open my journal and quickly jotting that thought down. I slam it shut once I'm finished. “There! Can't forget an important thought like that.”

I'm closely approaching the alpha's hut, anxiously awaiting whatever task he has in store for me. Among everyone in our pack, I'm most known for my hunting abilities– and I don't mean hunting for food. I hunt for a different kind of prey.

Vampires.

Whenever our alpha senses grave danger, he sends me to dispose of the problem. I'm the pack’s official assassin. However, no one else besides the alpha knows about this. I'm given a task around the same time he sends out various different werewolves to complete theirs. That way, no one will know for sure who's wiping out important figures in the vampire community.

Alpha once told me that I'm a cunning individual who can think on her feet– that I tend to analyze everything I focus on. This is the reason he trusts me. He knows I can do the job and do it well.
