Aaliyah has been walking past him whenever Benedict tries to talk to her. She would walk away from him in the dormoity, cancel every tutoring lesson she had with him, and tried her best not to walk passed the football and the baseball field just in case he was picking his friend up. Sammy has been answering the door whenever Benedict knocks telling him that she doesn't want to see him and soon closes the door in his face.
Benedict knew he was wrong, he did kiss so many girls at the party and he was so sure that she saw him kissing girls.
"If I had just kept to myself maybe it would have been different..." Benedict says to James and his twin sister Nicole as they look over the football field sitting by the bleachers
"Not your fault, you're single so it's no shock that you were lip to lip with some girl" James says earning a scoff from Nicole
"Benedict likes her from what I hear...you don't really go around kissing other ladies if you like someone..." She replies "Just give her time...maybe she will forgive you...maybe she won't and you're going to have to find another girl to date"
"How...I mean it's no excuse but...I was just so upset that day...lost our game and I just needed a relief...and the minute I entered I just maybe..." Benedict says before
"Maybe you should screw up your foundation because you saw her as a rebound...right?" Nicole asked
"She isn't a rebound to me...I really like...it's my mission but...going around like a player that day? It was clear to her that I think of her as a rebound..."
"Cheer up dude...you have that cheerleader who asked you out the other day...I mean a cheerleader and a football player dating, you'll be on the news" James says
"I don't want to be on the news James, I don't want to behave like we did in high school. It was cute at first then it got boring, I just want an actual girlfriend...someone who just brightens my day when it's rough, someone who just likes me for me and my broken pieces" Benedict says looking at his hands
"And that's your issue...you're thinking about your benefit more than hers...Do you really think she'll be happy if everything is about you? I mean the reason why she's mad at you is because you saw her as a stress reliever even though none of you laid down your boundaries...I don't know her but I'm pretty sure I would congratulate her for being upset at you." Nicole says
"You're my friend..." Benedict says looking at her
"And you're wrong...I support your rights...but not your wrongs" Nicole says standing up and dusting her tracksuit "Will catch up with you guys later, gotta run some miles before my commander calls us for training"
"Yeah sure...bye" Benedict and James say watching Nicole leave before turning to each other
"Maybe give her some time..."
"I guess..."
"Wanna talk to her?" James asks
"Yeah...one last time and if she says no...I'll just leave her be...:
James nods "Cheer up bro...she might say yes"
"No she doesn't want you," Sammy says folding her arms
"We tried," Benedict says to James but James shakes his head
"You're not her mouthpiece. Let him talk to her, they have issues they need to talk about and I'm pretty sure you don't want to be in the middle" James says
Sammy looks at him "Excuse me? I'm not the one using her as a rebound am I? If she doesn't want to see you, she doesn't want to see you, do I have to be her mouthpiece to see what your friend did was wrong?"
"It's not you and him, it's him and her, it doesn't concern you" James walks closer to Sammy before Benedict pushes him back "James calm down...Aaliyah probably told her not to say yes...let's go"
"Sammy, can you leave me and him alone....please?" Aaliyah says looking at Sammy, shocking Benedict and James, Benedict looking at her tired face and her messed up hair. It was pretty clear what he did to her was affecting her
"Aaliyah, are you joking?" Sammy says looking back "He hurt you!"
"I know but he wants to talk to me...I'm going to talk to him" Aaliyah says looking at Benedict before looking back at Sammy "I'll be fine...really"
Sammy rolls her eyes allowing Aaliyah to walk outside before going back inside closing the door as James walks away to Benedict's dorm room. Aaliyah and Benedict stare at each other before he looks down
"I'm sorry...I treated you like a rebound...I was upset and...it's not an excuse but...I really do like you...I'm sorry...I know you won't accept my feelings but can we please just be friends...?" Benedict says looking at him
"You were the first friend that came up to me when I was lonely, I was close to you, you paid for my meals from time to time, I gave you tutoring lessons to help you, you dropped me off at my department and this is how I get treated?! I was beginning to like you, I told Sammy you were not like your friends or your brothers but because you were angry, you decided to... go off and kiss so many girls and you didn't feel any affection and you thought you could use me? Your friend? And you want me to forgive you?" Aaliyah says
Benedict looks down playing with his finger as Aaliyah talks, allowing her to express her feelings. He was taught to just keep silent and let the one who's affected talk their mind.
Aaliyah finished her rant, breathing heavily before sighing "Why are you not saying anything?"
"It's not in my place to talk...it's not in my place to invalidate your feelings. I hurt you and I'm sorry...I'm really sorry"
Aaliyah looks at him in a sad way before looking around "Give me time...I don't want to rush back into our friendship feeling hurt...give me time to heal..."
"How long will it take?" Benedict says looking up
"Days, weeks...we'll see..." Aaliyah says "You should leave now...before Sammy drags me inside"
"Yeah...thanks for allowing me to talk to you even though you're upset...I'll see you when you want to see me..." he says soon walking away.
