Chase walked away from the lookout feeling his heart sink deeper with each step. His paws felt heavy, and the world around him seemed to blur. He'd held onto hope for so long, thinking maybe one day Skye would see something more in him than just her friend. But after today, he knew he was wrong. She will never look at him the way he look at her.

He kept walking, almost on autopilot, until he reached his place. He use to sit there when he's sad, upset etc. It's a quiet cliff overlooking the ocean. Here, he could be alone with his thoughts, without worrying about anyone else. Noone could see him there.

As he sat down and looked out at the horizon, he felt the emptiness of the sea reflecting the emptiness inside him. The sun was starting to set, painting the sky in shades of pink and orange, but Chase didn't notice at all. His mind kept replaying every word of their conversation, the friendly smile on Skye's face, the way she'd said, "I'm glad we're such good friends" It felt like a knife in his chest.

Suddenly, tear slipped down his cheek before he could stop it, quickly followed by another. He lowered his head, feeling the tears come faster, until he couldn't hold them back anymore. He tried so hard to be strong, to keep his feelings hidden, but now, sitting alone with no one around, it all came pouring out.

"What's wrong with me? Why am I crying..?" He muttered to himself, his voice was already cracking. "Why did I ever thought she will ever feel the same way?!" He shouted.
Then he looked out at the waves, trying to calm down, but his heart ached too much. The truth was, he couldn't just "turn off" how he felt. He cared about Skye too much for that. Every moment they shared, every smile she gave him, it all meant so much to him, even if it hadn't meant the same to her.

Just then, he heard footsteps behind him.
