Bible arrived early for class, trying to mentally prepare himself for the day ahead. The lecture hall was dim, and he squinted at the empty rows of seats, the silence amplifying his anxiety. But the moment he stepped inside, his heart sank when he spotted Jes already there, sorting through his materials with that infuriating air of confidence that made Bible’s stomach churn.

Great. Just what he needed—more time in the presence of the guy he couldn’t stand.

He slunk into his seat at the back, hoping to go unnoticed. But it wasn’t long before he felt the unsettling quiet around him, interrupted only by the clock’s incessant ticking. Jes glanced up from his notes, their eyes locking for a brief moment before Jes’s brow furrowed, and he turned away, dismissing Bible entirely.

Tension filled the air like a thick fog. Bible shifted in his seat, trying to focus on his notes, but all he could think about was how embarrassed he still felt after that ridiculous incident by the pool. The memory of clinging to Jes’s back like a drowning cat made his cheeks flush hot. The last thing he wanted was to relive that moment, especially in front of his classmates.

Just as he tried to suppress the memory, a sudden rustling sound came from the corner of the room. Bible’s heart raced, his instincts screaming at him that something was off. A rat scurried across the floor, its tiny feet tapping against the tiles.

“Ahhh! Get it away!” Bible screamed, panic surging through him. The sight of the rat sent him into a frenzy. Without thinking, he bolted straight toward Jes, leaping onto his back like a startled cat.

“What the hell, Bible?!” Jes exclaimed, his voice a mix of shock and irritation as he stumbled forward. Bible clung on for dear life, face buried in Jes’s shoulder, completely oblivious to the chaos erupting around them.

“Why are you carrying me?!” Jes snapped, struggling to shake Bible off.

“Because there’s a rat!” Bible shouted, his voice trembling. The rat, seemingly oblivious to the commotion it had caused, paused to sniff a backpack.

The laughter of their classmates quickly turned to gasps of shock as more students noticed the rat. A girl in the front row shrieked and jumped onto her desk, and suddenly, the room erupted into chaos.

“Get it away!” another student cried, scrambling to the back of the room. Desks toppled over, and people jumped onto chairs, their faces twisted in fear.

“It’s coming this way!” someone yelled, pointing as the rat darted towards the group. Bible's heart raced faster.

“Jes, do something!” Bible pleaded, gripping Jes tightly, his voice panicked.

Jes rolled his eyes, clearly annoyed but also caught off guard by the chaos. “It’s a rat, not a monster! Get off me already!”

Bible only tightened his grip, refusing to let go as laughter mixed with screams filled the air. Bas burst through the door, eyes wide in disbelief.

“What is going on?” Bas asked, barely able to contain his laughter as he took in the absurdity before him.

“Bible is being ridiculous!” Jes declared, trying to sound authoritative as he attempted to shake Bible off his back. “Can’t you control your friend?”

“I’m not his babysitter!” Bas replied, still chuckling. “But I think we all need to call animal control at this point!”

Finally, with one last huff of exasperation, Jes managed to dislodge Bible, who stumbled back onto the floor, still wide-eyed with fear. The rat darted toward a group of students, who shrieked and scattered in all directions, some climbing over desks and others diving for cover behind chairs.

“Nice of you to join us, Bible,” Jes said dryly, crossing his arms, trying to maintain a semblance of authority amid the chaos. “Maybe next time, you’ll remember that rats don’t eat people.”

“Whatever!” Bible shot back, scowling as he continued to keep a wary eye on the rat. “I didn’t ask for a rodent to invade my personal space! It’s terrifying!”

“Because you’re being dramatic!” Jes retorted, rolling his eyes as he tried to herd the students back into some semblance of order. “It’s just a rat!”

As laughter mixed with panicked cries, Bas stepped in, his face a mix of amusement and concern. “Dude, you know that’s not how you handle a rat, right? You don’t just leap onto your lecturer like he’s a superhero.”

“Tell that to him!” Bible grumbled, glaring at Jes, who was now trying to control the chaos as students continued to scream and dart around.

“Alright, everyone, settle down!” Jes commanded, his voice rising above the chaos as he stepped to the front of the classroom. “I have a lecture to give, and I’d like to finish it without further interruptions!”

As the class quieted down, Bible sat in his seat, heart still racing. Jes was insufferable. It was one thing to hate him in a normal class setting, but this? This was next-level irritation. He shot one last glare at Jes, who was now busy trying to restore order, and grumbled to himself.

This was going to be a long semester.
