Bible Wichapas was having one of those mornings. The kind where your alarm doesn’t go off, your coffee spills all over your favorite shirt, and the universe just seems to conspire against you. As he raced down the crowded Bangkok sidewalk, dodging street vendors and tourists, his mind was on one thing: how much he did not want to see Jes today.

“Of all the classes to be late to...” he muttered under his breath, narrowly avoiding a motorbike zooming by. His messenger bag thumped against his side, reminding him that today, once again, would suck. Big time.

Dr. Jes Jespipat Tilapornputt, Bible’s personal nemesis disguised as a theology professor, was waiting for him at the end of this sprint—ready to deliver another one of his long-winded, holier-than-thou lectures. Just thinking about him made Bible’s blood pressure spike. Jes had that smug way of making you feel like you were perpetually on the wrong side of a pop quiz.

And to top it off, he was the most infuriatingly good-looking lecturer on campus. Because of course he was.

“Stupid Jes...” Bible grumbled, speeding past a vendor selling fresh mango slices. A quick glance at his phone told him he was already five minutes late. Great. Perfect. Jes would love this.

He practically flew through the doors of the lecture hall, panting like he’d run a marathon. Every head in the room turned to look at him. Oh yeah, nothing like an entrance to start the day. Bible froze for a second, desperately trying to pretend like he wasn’t completely out of breath.

And there he was. Jes . Leaning casually against his desk, arms crossed, with that infuriatingly calm expression. Crisp white shirt, perfectly styled hair, and the aura of a man who definitely knew how good he looked—and how late Bible was.

“Oh, look who finally graced us with his presence,” Jes drawled, arching an eyebrow in that signature I’m-smarter-than-you way of his. “I was starting to think you were avoiding me, Bible. But I suppose you wouldn’t dare miss my lecture on such an exciting topic.”

Bible’s stomach churned. The class snickered, of course. He could feel the heat rising to his cheeks. “Sorry I’m late,” he muttered, not even trying to sound genuine. At this point, he was just trying to avoid being roasted for the next two hours.

Jes smirked, like he’d already won this round. “Oh, no worries,” he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm. “It’s just, you know, the third time this week. But who’s counting?”

Bible rolled his eyes so hard he was surprised they didn’t get stuck. He made his way to an empty seat in the middle of the room, trying to block out the whispers of his classmates. Two more hours of Jes and his ego, and then he could escape.

Jes turned back to the board, where he was writing something about trade reforms and their impact on economic structures. Bible wasn’t listening. He was too busy mentally counting down the minutes until he could leave. Why did Jes have to be so extra about everything? Teaching a class shouldn’t feel like a TED Talk crossed with a stand-up routine, but somehow, Jes made it exactly that.

And of course, Jes had to single him out again. “Now, let’s see if anyone—anyone—can explain the significance of last week’s trade reforms.” He glanced around the room dramatically before zeroing in on Bible, that smug smile never leaving his face. “Bible? Care to share your thoughts?”

Ugh, seriously? Bible felt his stomach drop. He hadn’t paid attention last week—hell, he wasn’t paying attention now. He fumbled through his notes, flipping through pages that were more doodles than anything useful. Meanwhile, Jes stood there, arms crossed, just waiting to pounce.

“No?” Jes said, lifting his eyebrows in mock surprise. “How unexpected.”

Bible clenched his jaw, resisting the urge to snap back. He wasn’t going to give Jes the satisfaction of seeing him lose his cool. Not today.

“Maybe next time, then,” Jes said with a shrug, turning back to the board like he hadn’t just roasted Bible in front of the whole class. “Although, at this rate, I wouldn’t hold my breath.”

A few students snickered again, and Bible sank lower in his chair, glaring daggers at the back of Jes’s head. Two more hours. Two more hours. He could survive this.

But what Bible didn’t know was that this little morning disaster was only the beginning. The universe was about to throw him a curveball so ridiculous, even he wouldn’t believe it. And it was going to change everything.
