Halloween night had arrived, and Y/n was excited to take her little boy Jameson out trick-or-treating with Rey Mysterio and his family. She loved spending time with Rey, Dominik, and Aalyah—they had become like a second family to her—and she couldn't wait to see how Jameson would enjoy the evening with them.

Jameson, dressed as a little superhero with a cape, bounced around with excitement as they walked down the sidewalk. Aalyah, looking adorable as a fairy, held Jameson's hand and pointed out every house decorated with spooky lights and jack-o'-lanterns. Dominik was dressed up as a skeleton and was unusually quiet, keeping close to Y/n, a shy but steady presence beside her.

Rey, wearing a simple mask for fun, was as cheerful as ever, carrying a small pumpkin-shaped candy bag for himself, pretending he was collecting treats too. "Hey, you've got competition, Jameson!" he joked, holding his bag out.

Jameson laughed and held his bag up with pride. "I'm gonna get way more candy than you, Rey!"

Y/n couldn't help but laugh at how happy her son looked, his face lighting up with every house they visited. Rey seemed to be enjoying himself just as much, guiding Jameson and Aalyah as they went door-to-door.

After about an hour, Jameson began to slow down. His little superhero energy was running out, and he tugged on Rey's arm, his eyes drooping. Without missing a beat, Rey bent down, picked Jameson up, and held him securely in his arms. Jameson leaned his head on Rey's shoulder, his cape draped over Rey's arm, looking perfectly content as he drifted off to sleep.

Aalyah, still holding Jameson's hand, walked beside Rey, occasionally looking up at her step brother and step mother with a soft smile. Y/n's gaze shifted to Dominik, who had been quietly walking beside her, seeming to enjoy the evening in his own quiet way. She felt a slight, unexpected warmth as his hand slowly slipped into hers. She glanced at him, surprised but touched; he'd never held her hand before, and she knew he wasn't usually one for gestures like this.

Dominik gave her a shy smile, his cheeks a bit pink, and she squeezed his hand gently, feeling grateful that he was warming up to her.

As they made their way back toward Y/n's house, Dominik yawned, tapping Y/n's hand to get her attention. "I'm sleepy," he said softly, his voice barely above a whisper.

Y/n stopped, looking at him warmly. "Want me to carry you, tough guy?"

Dominik hesitated, but nodded, looking like he was trying hard not to fall asleep standing up. Y/n bent down, gathering him into her arms. He was heavy but not too heavy, and she held him securely, rubbing his back in slow, soothing circles.

Dominik rested his head on her shoulder, letting out a small sigh as he relaxed into her embrace. Within moments, his breathing softened, and he drifted off, his arm wrapped loosely around her.

Rey looked over at them, smiling as he adjusted Jameson in his own arms. "Looks like you've got another one down for the count."

Y/n chuckled, feeling an overwhelming sense of warmth and happiness as they continued walking together. She gave Rey a grateful look, knowing how much he and his family meant to her and how much love and acceptance they showed her and her son.

Once Y/n and Rey finally made it home after trick-or-treating, the kids were barely awake. Jameson had fully fallen asleep in Rey's arms, while Dominik was nodding off on Y/n's shoulder, his eyes fluttering open and shut as she gently rubbed his back. Aalyah, still clutching her candy bag, was trying to fight the sleepiness, but even she was struggling to keep her eyes open.

They carefully tucked each child into their beds, making sure to place their candy bags by their bedsides. Y/n knelt down by Jameson's bed, brushing her hand over his soft curls, and gave him a gentle kiss on his forehead before whispering, "Goodnight, my sweet boy." Meanwhile, Rey had already tucked Dominik in, pulling the blanket up to his shoulders and brushing a hand through his son's hair. Finally, he gave Aalyah a soft kiss on her cheek, and she mumbled something incoherent before rolling over and pulling her blanket up.

Once the kids were settled, Y/n and Rey slipped out of their rooms, finally able to steal a few quiet moments for themselves. They headed to the living room and sank into the couch, letting out simultaneous sighs of relief and contentment. Rey wrapped his arm around Y/n, pulling her close, and she rested her head on his shoulder.

"Thank you for tonight," Rey murmured, his voice low and warm. "I couldn't have asked for a better Halloween with anyone else."

Y/n smiled, her heart swelling with gratitude. "It was perfect, Rey. Nights like this remind me how lucky I am to have you all."

He reached for her hand, intertwining their fingers, and they sat in comfortable silence, enjoying the peace. She could feel his thumb gently tracing circles on the back of her hand, and it was enough to make her feel safe, loved, and completely content.

Just as they were getting comfortable, a small shuffling sound from the hallway broke the quiet. They looked up to see Dominik standing in the doorway, holding his pillow and looking hesitant.

"Dominik?" Y/n asked softly, concerned. "Are you alright, sweetheart?"

Dominik nodded, but he looked shy, glancing down at his feet. "Can I... can I sleep with you, Y/n?" he asked quietly, his voice barely a whisper.

Y/n looked at Rey, and he gave her an encouraging nod, smiling as if to say, This is what family is all about. She turned back to Dominik with a warm smile. "Of course, Dom. Come here."

Dominik shuffled over and climbed onto the couch beside her, snuggling close as she wrapped her arms around him. He laid his head on her shoulder, and Y/n gently rubbed his back, whispering soft, comforting words until he seemed to relax completely. In no time, his breathing evened out, and he drifted off to sleep, looking peaceful and content in her arms.

But they weren't alone for long. Only a few minutes later, more little footsteps padded down the hallway, and Y/n looked up to see Jameson and Aalyah standing there, both looking just as sleepy. Jameson clutched his teddy bear tightly, his eyes barely open, while Aalyah was holding her candy bag and rubbing her eyes.

Without saying a word, they made their way over to the couch. Jameson climbed onto Y/n's lap, cuddling against her chest, while Aalyah settled beside Rey, laying her head on his shoulder. Y/n couldn't help but smile, her heart swelling with affection for these kids who felt safe and loved enough to seek comfort here with them.

Rey chuckled softly, wrapping his arm around Aalyah and holding her close. "Well," he whispered, glancing at Y/n with a twinkle in his eye, "so much for alone time."

Y/n stifled a laugh, leaning into Rey and giving his hand a gentle squeeze. "I think this is better," she whispered back, looking around at the children who surrounded them.

Jameson shifted on her lap, his little hand reaching up to clutch her shirt, and he let out a tiny sigh as he snuggled closer. She gently brushed her hand over his back, her heart full as she looked down at him, peaceful and secure in her arms.

Rey glanced over at her, his gaze soft as he took in the warmth and love filling the room. He reached over and placed his hand over hers, giving it a gentle squeeze. In this quiet, perfect moment, surrounded by their family, Y/n felt like nothing else mattered. The warmth and closeness between all of them was all she could ever want.

Dominik, snuggled on her left, shifted in his sleep, wrapping his arm around her. She gently rubbed his back, feeling the rise and fall of his breathing, and whispered to him softly, "I'm here, Dom. Sweet dreams." He murmured something in his sleep and held onto her a bit tighter.

Aalyah, snuggled beside her father, had dozed off with her candy bag still clutched in her hand. Rey smiled, carefully easing it out of her grip and setting it on the coffee table before wrapping his arm around her again. The sight of Rey holding Aalyah so protectively made Y/n's heart swell even more.

As they sat together, Rey looked at Y/n, his gaze filled with warmth and love. "Thank you for being here with us, Y/n. For making tonight so special."

Y/n smiled, her eyes misty with happiness. "Thank you for letting me be a part of it, Rey. I love you all so much."

Rey leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. "We love you too."

They settled in together, surrounded by the quiet breathing of the kids as they slept soundly. Y/n leaned her head against Rey's shoulder, and he wrapped his arm around her, pulling her close. The warmth, the love, and the sense of family made this Halloween night one they would all remember—a night filled with laughter, love, and the gentle, comforting feeling of being home.
