The movie had started when Jess and Wren came into the living room and not one of the boys turned to see them, already engrossed in the beginning of The Godfather. Wren slumped onto the sofa next to Robin who smiled at her and Jess, who sat next to her.

"Hey man." He whispered, "Got a drink?"

"Oh, uh, yeah?" He nodded to the Diet coke shoved in his hands from Scotty who walked in.

"Cool." Robin grinned, turning back to the film. Jess raised an eyebrow at Wren who just shrugged, letting Copper lay on her feet. One of the boys at the other end of the room whistled to Snoopy who went over quite happily. The room went silent again, except from the film and JP loudly eating popcorn. Wren relaxed slightly, but her breath still caught as Jess moved slightly.

"Hey." He whispered to her, not tearing his eyes away from the screen.

"Yeah?"

"This happen a lot?"

"Every three weeks." She shrugged. "Sh. They get weird if you interrupt."

"You know 'em all?"

"Mostly. They're Robin's friends though, not mine." She shrugged, whispering so quietly.

"W-"

"Sh. Watch the fucking film Jess." She told him grabbing his hand to shut him up. He fell quiet and she didn't let go of his hand. By the time it was half way through the movie, she was half asleep on his shoulder, and he hadn't moved a muscle since.

"Okay losers! Pizza." Robin hollered and she moved slightly but didn't sit up. "Oh, uh, Pete take this, I'll take her upstairs, Jess." He said softly, looking at his little sister softly.

"Right. Go ahead." Jess nodded, and Robin scooped her up, the dogs leaping up to follow him as he took her upstairs quickly. He put her on the bed, letting the dogs up with her as he draped a blanket over her, patting her awkwardly on the head before dashing back downstairs.

"Cool. Um, you don't need to stay anymore, if you don't want." Robin said awkwardly. "If you were just here for her I mean. Hold on, are you two dating? Because she's not allowed a boyfriend until she's 18." He suddenly got quite angry, puffing up and pointing at him in the chest.

"Ooh, Wrennie's got a boyfriend!" One of the boys in the living room stood up, grinning wildly.

"No Wrennie, does not, right?" Robin turned on Jess again. "Right?"

"Hold on man, I'm not dating her." Jess shook his head, holding his hands up in mock surrender, lips twitching into an amused smirk. "Just friends."

"Swear?"

"Swear."

"Pinky swear?"

"I'm sorry."

"I'd do it. Our Robbie's big on his pinky swears." Scotty yelled over the side of the sofa, looking over at the pair. "He won't let you go."

"Okay. Pinky swear, man." Jess chuckled, pinky swearing to the older boy, who immediately grinned.

"Alright! Everyone got pizza?" He hollered and a chorus of whoops answered. Robin hopped over the sofa, landing in his place on the sofa with a light thud. "Cool. You coming or going man?"

"Oh, fuck it." Jess murmured under his breath, hopping into his place as well, grabbing the paperback from his jean pockets as he sat.

"Oh, no, no, no my friend. Nobody reads during the Godfather." Robin wagged his finger and snatched the book out of Jess's hands, putting on the floor next to Cody, who chuckled through his mouthful of popcorn and pressed play on the movie.

"Hey, you still here?" Wren yawned, walking downstairs. Robin and Scotty were asleep on the floor, Andre sprawled over the sofa with Cody on his feet and James on one of the armchairs. It was eight in the morning and all were snoring loudly. Jess was slumped against the back of the sofa, reading as the dogs lay around him, asleep as well.

"Yeah." Jess nodded, rubbing the back of his neck sleepily.

"They make you stay? Sorry."

"No, no it's good." He chuckled as she sat down next to him, leaning on the back of the sofa with him, stroking Snoopy's face. "They're chill."

"Good if you don't like silence." She shrugged. "What you reading?"

"To kill a mockingbird. Read it?"

"Nope."

"They thought I was your boyfriend." Jess chuckled, motioning over his shoulder.

"He make you pinky-promise?"

"Oh yes. He done that before?"

"Tony Wilson, fifth grade. Except, Tony Wilson never made out with me in the kitchen." Wren whispered.

"He didn't?"

"Not even a little bit." Wren laughed softly, turning to look at him. He was already looking at her. Her breath fluttered as she didn't look away and as he leant in, not slow and romantic like in the films, but quick and hurried and she was kissing back quicker and harder, smiling against his lips as he cupped her cheek, pulling her closer. When she pulled away he was smirking already, his forehead resting on hers as they breathed heavily.

"Never kissed me in the living room either."

"What a weirdo."

"I know right, I'm fucking pretty." She laughed, moving back against the sofa and letting Snoopy lay across her legs. "Go on then."

"What?"

"I've never read it."

"When he was nearly thirteen, my brother Jem got his arm badly broken at the elbow. When it healed, and Jem's fears of never being able to play football were assuaged, he was seldom self-conscious about his injury. His left arm was somewhat shorter than his right; when he stood or walked, the back of his hand was at right angles to his body, his thumb parallel to his thigh. He couldn't have cared less...."
