“I won’t stay here. I’ll leave,” I choked out, throwing my belongings into the suitcase with trembling hands, my voice a harsh whisper. Determination pulsed through my veins, anchoring my resolve to leave, to vanish from a place that only brought me pain. I hadn’t stayed at my apartment, not wanting anyone to track me down, yet somehow, it felt like he’d found me anyway.

As I zipped up the suitcase, ready to make my escape, the door to my hotel room burst open, revealing the last person I wanted to see. I froze, too stunned to react. My gaze drifted to the hotel manager standing beside him, head bowed, silent.

Hell..!! How…?

I’d given strict instructions not to be disturbed, refusing to meet anyone. But he…he was here. He nodded at the manager, a silent dismissal, and the man quickly exited, leaving us alone. The door clicked shut, and he casually tossed the key card in his hand before slipping it into his pocket. Each step he took toward me was slow, deliberate, yet I could sense the hesitance hidden in his movements.

“Where are you going, jaan?” he asked, his tone deceptively calm, though his eyes betrayed him. They held a whirlpool of emotions, raw and unreadable, like he was barely holding himself together.

My own eyes stung as I fought to keep my tears at bay. I didn’t want to cry in front of him, to show any sign of weakness. I clutched onto the handle of my suitcase, trying to back away, but my legs felt unsteady, mirroring his slow advance toward me. Suddenly, my back hit the wall, trapping me.

It seemed he was not the man, he was not the ishan i interacted with a few hours ago.
Desperation and determination was visible from his face. Hurt was clearly visible and upon all of it, there was one emotion which was overpowering, overshadowing his dominance, his usual aura and that emotion was guilt.

I felt my heart clench as I stammered, “Stay—stay away from me.” My voice wavered, crumbling under the weight of the emotions roiling within me.

Ignoring my plea, he took a final step, closing the distance between us. He leaned down, his hand pressing against the wall beside my head. “I’ve already stayed away from you for too long,” he whispered, his breath brushing against my cheek, sending shivers down my spine. His eyes softened as he looked at me, vulnerable in a way I hadn’t seen before.

“Tell me,” he murmured, his voice dropping, thick with emotion. “Where were you going?”

I turned my face away, feeling the burn of his gaze. He was so close, too close. “You’re no one…did you get that? No one to ask me that,” I spat, meeting his eyes with defiance, trying to convey the hurt, the bitterness lodged deep within me.
