AFTER THE, IN HIS PERSPECTIVE,
unnecessary therapy session, which he escaped from, Wednesday entered the café, Weathervane.

A boy at the counter was having trouble with the espresso machine, but soon his eyes wandered to a certain girl standing next to said boy.
The boy flinched, startling everyone, as the machine spewed out smoke and started to hiss.

As the smoke cleared, Wednesday appeared in front of the counter, making the boy jump in fright.
"Holy crap!", he cursed,"Do you make a habit of scaring the hell out of people?"

Wednesday titled his head a bit,"It's more of a hobby.", then his eyes went back to Laila, who was looking at him with a soft smile.
"Laila."

"Hi Wednesday.", she greeted back in this soothing voice, that makes Wednesday nearly melt intently, not that he would show it.

"You also go to Nevermore.", the bartender pointed out, gesturing towards him.
"Didn't realize they changed the uniform."

"I need a quad over ice.", Wednesday simply demanded coldly, before looking at Laila,"What do you want?"

"Huh?", Laila asked confused with a titled head, making her look like a cute puppy in his eyes.

"To drink.", he replied and gestured to the card.

The bartender looked at him with a frown,"I don't know if you noticed, but the espresso machine's having a seizure, so all we have is drip."

"But drip is for people who hate themselves and know their lives have no real purpose.", Wednesday protested, making a frown etch on Laila's face.

"I drink it sometimes.", she stated.

Wednesday glanced at her and matched her frown,"Excluding you.", making her smile reappear.

"The introductions are in italian, so
i can't repair it.", the bartender
pointed out, while Wednesday took it, saying what he needs to fix it.
"Wait, you read italian?"

"Of course,it's the native tongue of machiavelli.", he started,"Here's the deal. I am going to fix your machine, then you're going to make my coffee and whatever Laila wants and call a taxi."

The other boy frowned,"Uh—no taxis in Jericho. Try Uber?"

"I don't have a phone. I refuse to be a slave to technology.", Wednesday answered coldly.

"Well—I love my instagram.", Laila shrugged, making both boys look at her for a second.

"Then you are out of luck.", the bartender started,"Where are you going anyway?"

Wednesday ignored his question and asked,"What about trains?"

"Nearest station is Burlington. It's half an hour away.", the other one stated, while Wednesday started to repair the espresso machine, making Laila sit down at a booth with her book.
